Gary stood down as Chairman of the RDBBL a couple of weeks ago after about 9 years in the position and I would like to thank him for all the work he did for the league over this time, he will be missed very much. For my sins I have picked up the baton and hope to carry on his good work, Gary we will miss you and wish you all the best, thanks for all you have done on behalf of all the league.

Will miss you Richard, sometimes didn't know what was going on in your head but you where a great bloke and great ambassador for Bar Billiards, playing in the Sussex Inter League won't be the same without you but the Redhill League will miss you the most, RIP Richard.

Today I learned of the sad passing of Colin, you could not want to meet a nicer person who gave so much to our game, he embodied everything that is good in bar billiards, he was not a great player but he loved the game and played his part in keeping out league going as treasurer and never had a bad word to say about anyone, you will be sorely missed.

Surrey have only the one league - Redhill - and therefore the League Championship-winning side (sometimes the runners-up) are sent to represent the County. I noted there was an exception in 1982 when White Hart Cranleigh (a team from the west of the county, playing in one of the Sussex Leagues) was allowed to enter - and won - the "Surrey zone of the All-England competition". You've missed Cambs off your list, by the way. Tommo the reason the White Heart at Cranliegh represented Surrey in 1982 was in thoose days we used to run a seperate competition in the summer open to all pubs in Surrey with a team just to find our representative, and you were allowed 1 guest player, I can remember going out there to play them, unfourtunatley as the numbers dropped in the league and teams stopped entering it was deceided that the Redhill League champions would represent Surrey. How it is decieded now I can't say as as you know I was in Yorkshire for ten years and have only recently come back to Surrey

John was a legend in the Redhill league during the 70's and 80's, he was a great player but more importantly he was a gentleman, he always had time for all us younger players in the 70's and we all looked up to him and aspired to play like him. He will be sorely missed.

Congratulations to Denise for winning the British Isles Ladies Singles on Sunday to add to the 2 other National titles she holds at the moment, All England Ladies Singles and Mixed Pairs (with Gary), what a great 9 months and it makes me proud to see Denise finaly winning the titles she deserves and puts her up there with the other great Ladies players our league has produced like Gail Woods, Sue Mariner, Alison Norman and Josie Hogan to name a few.

Final A league Table
MVC B 44 Garland A 43 Garland B 36 SPCC 35 Salfords B 33 Old Oak A 30 Limes Lemons 30 Old Oak B 29
The Old Oak A and the Limes Lemons both finished on the same points, the same number of away wins and the same head to head! sort that one out if two teams are religated. Heard a rumour that it then goes to overall away score but this would be unfair as the Old oak gain the advantage of having an away game on their own table and as far as I know this has never been written into the rules of the RDDBL, I think a play off would be much fairer.

John beat Tom Laurie beat Martin Andy beat Ali Tracy lost to Mick DC lost to Denise
By taking 2 points off SPCC the Garland B finish in 3rd place and Denise finishes as the highest ranked Ladies player, a good year for us in a very tight A League.
