A North v South Saturday night Team match. Your geography is lacking somewhat Tommo ???, especially for a man who's quiz knowledge is so good ???, Thrapston is not in the north of England at all, it is situated in East Northants and borders Cambs by about 2 miles. Go to the back of the class boy ;D

Tommo if you don`t mind an interloper would be interested in coming up. Would need to know date as have to arrange work around the times we would need to travel. TJ.

Yeah Ok Clive, let me know when you're free then. We have the germ of an idea then. I'll bounce it off Sparky when I see him tonight (we're playing his team). This would be aside from your other 'local' match of course - we wouldn't want to get in the way of that taking place.

Kipling points for falling for the usual "North of Watford" jibe about Midlanders being from Northern realms - and biting ! ;D I get this all the time from our Leicester branch, they think anyone from south of Watford is a "cockney". Put your cloth cap back on and go take your whippet out for a walk ! ;D ;D ;D ;D

This has been done before, when some local lads (the Colemanator would look on them as Cockneys no doubt ;D ) returned the Northants Five Counties Challenge and visited 'oop north one weekend. Sparky was involved and acquired the nickname of "The Driver". Without wishing to turn it into a big deal, there's no reason why we couldn't rustle up a team of misfits and make a cracking evening out of it.

Each side to provide a packet of Cherry Bakewells as a stake, and winners take all. Or if it's 3-3 the spoils are divided. I could get a 'cherry bakewell' trophy knocked up :D I'd get the landlord (who's a chef) to put on a curry :D

I feel a charity event coming on..............
How does everyone feel about that?
Reasons for....
1. Raise the Billiards profile in Thrapston 2. Have a bloody good drink 3. Meeting up with good friends. 4. Have a bloody good drink. 5. Raise some money for charity 6. Have a bloody good drink.
Need I go on......????

Lots of ideas coming through now.
We've talked on other threads of a repeat of your 5-counties challenge, and of a 4-pin "North" v South challenge. (Sorry Ian, but nowadays you are the northern extremity of the Bar Billiards world. :o )
Now there's a chance of a Courthouse Inn Kipling Stakes to tide us over. Let's go for it.
You mentioned earlier about starting a Poll. Meanwhile I'll try and drum up some support tonight.

This is who we have so far, and we're aiming for 8 including 2 supporters. Lorraine (willing to be driver) Sparky tommo margo (supporter) Sir Jock o'the Strap BB Reaper (subject to confirmation) Big TJ a.n.other
If others get to hear of this and want to be included (eg the World Champ and wife, Ian Lelliott who loves his billiards so much, etc etc) make yourselves known and maybe we can bring two teams up to play you. Depends on the Courthouse's opening hours, I suppose.

Any idea yet Tommo of a date?

All I can do is provide some suggestions and see what others think.
Sat 20th Oct - too soon, not enough time to organise. Sat 27th October - a possibility Sat 3rd November - too close to Jersey, people are preparing Sat 10th November - Jersey Sat 17th November - too soon after Jersey, people are still recovering after it. Sat 24th November - a possibility Sat 1st December - a possibility Sat 8th December - a possibility Sat 15th December - getting too close to Christmas.
So there would appear to be a choice of four dates which we can now ALL discuss. Let's hope that we can reach a decision and that it's not an indiscriminate one !

Thanks Clive,
Sat 24th November - a possibility Sat 1st December - a possibility
I would opt for one of those two.
