Watermill 3 Cock inn 2 Wins for Norman,Gavin and Mark for the Watermill and Jan for the Cock inn apologies do not remember their other winners name. All the games were very scrappy as there was not one break over a 1000.I believe Graham Sparksman will be coming round to run his rule over the table.

Brewbells 5 Watermill 0
Roy 980 Martin 350 This was a game Martin had won that was until the black peg got in the way again very similar to last week.He was over a 1000 in front with not much time left until he hit the dreaded black peg.
Trevor 2510 Kim 2330
Another game we should have won Kim was behind for most of the game but managed to get in front right at the end with bar due and then white pegged it.
Nick 3490 Paul 2180
I only got about 600 from the opening break and then it was just small scores until Nick got the break back and knocked up a decent score I just hung in and was quite pleased with my game.
Ros 2890 Gavin 660
Ros broke off with about 1500 and was in control for most of the game as nothing seemed to go right for Gavin.
Neill 4100 Norman 1360
Norman seemed to struggle with the break and it was nip and tuck until Neill got the break back and got over 2000 and never looked back.
Nice evening with Ros and the boys and the garden shed was actually quite warm and some decent food supplied as well.

Watermill 2 HHUSC A 3 Kim 4750 Mick 2970 Mick only made 450 from his opening break a few go's later Kim managed to get the break back and got about 2000 then Mick got the break back and got 1500 which brought the scores closer but Kim then got the break back and got another 1500 to win Norman 4170 Terry 2070 Norman broke off with 3990 and although Terry managed to get a break of 1700 Norman in the end held on to win. Paul BP Trevor 7990 Trevor broke off with 2000 then I had a couple of shots managed to get the break back but played it too soft and the red stayed up.Trevor then got the break back and got over 5000 I then black pegged when going for the 200 with the last ball with the gams already well lost.Trevor played well as usual but you cannot afford to give him any chances. Martin 20 Graham 1390 This was a game Martin should have won he was in front with less than ten minutes to go and had a break of about 1300 but then mis-cued and black pegged it was his second mis-cue of the game and if he had kept that break would have won but that was just one of those unfortunate things that sometimes happen. Gavin 810 Andy 3960 Andy broke of with 1700 and scored well on most visits to the table and Gavin was really never in the hunt but must admit it was one of those games where if your luck is out nothing seems to go down but Andy did play well.

Phoenix 2 Watermill 3
Jan 1400 Gavin 1810 Gavin missed the break completely and after that it seemed to be a struggle he got a decent lead but Jan came back at the end but ran out of time. James 1760 Martin 850 James started well and built up a bit of a lead and Martin struggled and never managed to get the break back which may have made a difference Nigel 1450 Paul 1890 I broke off with about 900 and never got the break back but managed some small scores to keep the board moving.Nigel struggled at the beginning but gradually got going but again ran out of time. Adrian 3830 Kim 3510 This was just a case of Kim getting going to late as he really seemed to struggle for most of the game.Got a decent break of over 2000 late on but as I said just to late. Norman W/O
Phoenix only had the four players which was unfortunate for them as another player would obviously have made a difference. All in all a very enjoyable evening.

Probably the surprise result of the season. Watermill 4 Plough 1
Norman 2830 Darren 870 Gavin 430 Jan 3740 Kim 6410 Geoff 1800 Paul 1870 Chase 1730 Chris 1390 Dave 137
The last two games could have gone either way but I think we deserved the win and full marks to the plough for their sportsmanship a very enjoyable evening with two friendly matches as well after.

Watermill 1 HHUSC B 4
Gavin 880 Darrel 1840 Darrel broke off with just 450 and Gavin really struggled Darrel got the break back and got 1840 which won him the game
Paul 1190 Chris 1930 I missed the break and Chris seem seemed to score on every visit not big scores but enough I just could not get anything to go down but no excuses Chris played better.
Martin 2020 Colin 6620 Strange start to this game Colin had scored 450 on his break when the balls got stuck and did not come back.So the game was restarted and Colin quickly knocked up 2900 then Martin got the break back and scored 1800 then Colin got the break back and got another 2690 Martin managed another score off 510.Martin played well it was just the two breaks of 2000+ that made the difference. Kim 5160 Ian 1650 Kim broke off with 900 followed by 400 and Ian was struggling to get anything Kim then got the break back and knocked up 3240 followed by another 1330 Ian managed a score of 1100 but the game was over by then.
Norman 4510 Steve 5160 Best game off the night could have gone either way Steve only managed 450 on his first break and left both balls up on the one up shot Norman got the break and scored 1280 then Steve got 1500.Norman then got the break back and scored 3360 game over we thought with less than ten mins left but Steve got the break back and scored 3000 which gave him the game.

We were discussing this in the pub in one of our matches a few weeks ago. sometimes two balls decide to go down the same pocket and get jammed and so both balls are stuck above the pocket. What would happen if they were the only two balls left and one had to come back as the nearest ball.If you take one ball back the other would go down the pocket.Any ideas anyone would love to know

Scores for Watermill v Hassocks A
Gavin 1310 Ted 2630 Not much went right for Gavin could not get back to the break and Ted started with a break of 1200 and scored persistently
Kim 6410 Pete 2290 Kim started with a break of 3200 then Pete got the break and knocked up 2200 and then left both balls up Kim got the break back and got another 2500 which proved enough.
Martin 1070 Derek 4010 Derek got a break of 3700 which he then pegged Martin seemed to struggle last night then Derek got the break back and got nearly 3000 which along with some small score was more than enough to win.
Norman 6980 Jenny 750 Norman broke off with 6600 and Jenny had no luck at all trying to get the break back so many times got to one ball on table but just could not get both balls down very unlucky not saying she would have won but would probably been a lot closer.
Paul 1380 Dilly 6290
Dilly broke off with 3700 which meant I was always chasing he then got the break back and got another 2000+ I finally managed to get the break back just before the bar dropped and knocked up 1200 when the bar went.Dilly played very well.Very enjoyable evening

Just been browsing through the Mid-Sussex website and as reading the article about the Prince of Wales in East Grinstead and saw this lineup Tupper/Lewes/Elliott/Leeson I played in the same team as Harry Leeson when I first started playing in Brighton we also had another top player I think it was Terry Malloy.Harry was the top player in Brighton in the late 70s and early to mid 80s three times Brighton singles champion and considering the players around at that time was no mean achievment.I was mainly reserve at that time still learning the game. Not sure if Harry is still playing I know his dads meat business is no more in the open market.I know Chris upper and Ian Eliotare still playing.

Watermill 4 St Francis 1
Norman 3460 Shaun 2560 Paul 2370 Bob 2290 Martin 2010 Chris 1690 Kim 2160 Roger 500 Gavin 880 Peter 1860
Some very close games that could have gone either way.Norman was behind for a long time but got the break back late on and got 3100 to pinch it. I had one ball on the table and needed to keep one up and get the 200 with the last ball to win which which I managed to do do. Chris missed the break Martin got about 900 and then it was nip and tuck but Martin got the win. Kim lost his opening break of about 3000 but Roger did not have much luck Kim did get the break back and got enough to win. Gavin did not have a go at the break in his game and nothing seemed to go right for him.Peter played a good steady game scoring regularly not big scores but enough to keep the scoreboard ticking.

Good steady game by Chris shows what a good player he is.Pete did not have much luck in the first game although Norman played very well.Games two and five could have gone either way.Table seemed to be a bit out of sorts on Wednesday. But all the best to the Hurst for the remainder of the competition

Watermill 2 Brewbells 3
Neill 2410 Nick 3520 Nick broke off with 900 then got scores of 500 and 900 then Neill got 1300 to get almost level Nick then got the break back and got 1200 followed by 700 to seal the win Neill played very well
Jason 740 Ros 1420 Not much you can say about this match as I am sure both players would agree Jason broke off with 150 Ros got some scores of 300 or 400+ and did just enough to win
Paul 1010 Tony 380
Not again you could say about this game except that Tony led by about a 1000 and then hit a ball much to fine and it came back and hit the black peg and with not much time left I got the win Tony very unlucky.
Kim 3630 Neil 4920 Kim broke off with 1400 but a couple of shots later got the break back and knocked up 3700 Kim got a couple of breaks of 1000+ to get close but Neil then got got the break back and and scored 1000 to get the win.Best game of the night.
Martin 3240 Trevor 1150 Trevor missed the break and Martin quickly got it back and got just over a 1000 Trevor not having much luck then Martin gets the break back and scores 1500 to get the win.Probably Martins best game of the season not had much luck with the balls so maybe his luck has changed. He played very well just like the old Martin

HHUSCA 3 Watermill 2
Lyn 1930 Neill BP Neill missed the break and it was touch and go most of the game as both players struggled Lyn got the break back towards the end and got890 which was enough to win. Terry 820 Norman 1890 Terry was going well then missed a ball and lost his break of about 900 it then became quite scrappy as both layers seemed to struggle but Norman eventually got the break back and got 1270 which gave him the game. Mick 3530 Martin 360 Everything seemed to go wrong for Martin he missed the break mick then got about 300 Martin got the break back only to four time it Mick then got 2000 despite hitting the white peg which somehow stayed up and finally Martin black pegged Trevor 6820 Gavin 1190 Gavin missed the break and Trevor then got the break back but left both balls up on the one up shot again nothing went for Gavin and Trevor got the break back again and got over 4000 and then another 500 + to clinch the game. Graham 30 Kim 3960 This game had everything Kim got 8980 on his opening break and then missed a ball behind the 30 but a couple of shots later got the break back and knocked up 3840 I believe that if he had not missed that ball he would have been on for both highest away break and score and who knows quite capable of playing the table out that's how well he played.Graham very sportingly said it would have been a disgrace if Kim had lost that game.Very enjoyable evening in Haywards Heath

Watermill 3 Phoenix 2
Gavin 1580 Gavin 1510 Norman 4440 Malcolm 2020 Paul 890 Nigel 1760 Kim 3590 Jan 790 Martin 1600 James 2330 A couple of games could have gone the other way Phoenix Gavin needed the 100 to win but missed Watermill's Gavin needed the 200 which he got to win by 70 A good steady game from Norman considering he four timed his first break and luckily Malcolm did not take full advantage as Norman got the break back again and got a couple of grand to win easily in the end. Dont know why but I had at least four missed cues and absolutely nothing would go down and Nigel just kept scoring nothing spectacular but enough. Good steady game from Kim as usual Jan i'm afraid did not have much luck with the balls and I know the feeling. Martin seemed to struggle tonight and James played very well struggled with the break at the beginning but eventually got the hang of it an put together two decent breaks of 1000+ All in all a enjoyable evening

Hurst Club 5 Watermill 0
Pete 3270 Martin 2470 Martin got 650 on his opening break and then came off then Pete got 850 and then pegged it Martin got another 850 + 120 Pete then got the break back and got 1530 and held on but it was closer than the score suggested Lorraine 9050 Kim 2760 Lorraine broke of with 1770 Kim just managed a score of 350 before Lorraine got another break of 2000+ followed by another 4000+ Kim then managed a break of 2150 but had more than enough and she played very well. Rob 6910 Gavin 4080 This was a really good game and could have gone either way it was any ones game untill Rob got the break back about 10 mins from the end and knocked up a break of 3440 Richard 7280 Norman 4420 Another cracking game which again could have gone either way Richard broke off with 5180 but eventually Norman got the break back and got 4300 Richard then got another 1650 which saw him home. Andy 2780 Paul 2190 And again another game which could have gone either way Andy struggled for a lot of the game with so many balls on the table and I was just happy to keep scoring even if it was just a few hundreds.I kept the lead untill about five mins from the end and then Andy got the break back and saw the game out. All in all a very enjoyable evening and some very close games and I do not honestly think we deserved to lose by that score but there you are well done Hurst Club

Plough 3 Watermill 2
Martin 610 Darren 3020 Martin not too well tonight and struggled with the table even Darren struggled at the start it was 8 or 9 minutes before thre was a score on the board but Darren got the break back and got enough to win
Jan 4210 Kim 2640
Jann lost her opening break of about 1300 by 4 timing Kim struggled with his first go at the break Jan then got breaks of 1000+ and 1720 plus some smaller breaks Kim eventually got the break back but was to far adrift.
Gavin 3390 Chase 1710
Gavin played really well after seeming to struggle with his first couple of goes at the break getting a nice break of 1500+ plus some other decent scores Chase did not have much luck nothing seemes to want to go down
Chris 3550 Dave 1420
Dave only got 740 on his opening break Chris got the break back and scored 1510 then got another 1500+ and Dave was struggling as with Chase nothing seemed to want to go down but Chris played really well
Rick 4190 Norman 2240
These scores do not tell the story of the game Norman got 900 on his first break followed by another 900 then Rick got a break of 1700 to leave it almost all square Norman then got a lead of about 400 with two balls on the table and about five minutes left to play.He played a ball behind the 30 the cue ball went down but the object ball came back and knocked the white peg down.Pretty certain if the peg had stayed up he would have won.Rick then got the break back and got about 2500 and game over.Bit dissapointing as we had our chances but well done to the Plough

Watermill 1 Bravos 4
Kim 1820 Nikki 1280 Nikki missed the break and both players seemed to struggle Nikki got the break back a few times and could not seem to do anything with it and Kim never got the break back..
Norman 2580 Adam 4330
Norman just got 450 from his opening break and seemed to struggle Adam got the break back and got 2000+ Norman managed to get a break going but just was not his night
Gavin 1600 Richard 1630 Richard got just 600 from his opening break and then got a lead of over a 1000 when he black pegged Gavin like Norman seemed to really struggle especially with the balls at the back of the table. It it finally went down to the last ball both players needed the 100 to win Gavin first too soft then Richard misses then Gavin plays it too hard and it comes back out finally Richard gets it and wins by 30
Paul 1090 Lyn 2520
No hiding it I played rubbish and Lyn played very well and deserved to win she seemed to score on every visit and got one break of 1000+
Martin 2130 Paul 3120
This was a game that could have gone either way Paul broke off with 1000+ and Martin kept in touch but Paul managed to get another small break towards the end which won him the game probably the best game off the night. Thanks to Gavin behind the par for the food much appreciated

Gavin 3060 v Chris 2990 Turned into a nailbiter at the end Chris did not get much with his first break and Gavin got the break back and got 2400 followed by a couple of scores of 200+ then Chris got the break back and was unlucky the bar dropped when it did just needed another ball on the table and who knows good game. Kim 4190 Adam 1100 Kim missed his first go at the break leaving one ball up he the got the break back but could only manage about 800 Adam was not having much luck Kim again got the break back and this time got 2000+ which was enough

Paul 660 Bob 720
The scores say it all I fluffed the break but managed to get about 600 in front and then went for a in / off shot into the 100 but hit the black peg could have still won with three balls left tried one back into the 100 but it spun out managed to put my last ball down the 200 to lose by 60.A game best forgotten
