Springbok Club 4 Alfold SC 1
Gary Marshall 3930 Kelly Slater 1470 This was in no way one way traffic for Gary as Kelly put her stamp on the game early on putting pressure on the young one forcing him into mistakes. It took a late decent break to claim the point, but Kelly should not be down hearted as she played brilliantly.
Trevor Goacher 2170 Dave Slater 3710 A night for the Slater clan to be on top form, and Dave certainly hit some form, though he started slow. Once he got into the flow he developed a couple of decent breaks leaving it all for me to do, I had the chance and blew it so a well deserved victory to Dave.
Bill Hicks 3910 Garry Fishburn 1570 Garry let Bill in early and he put 2K on the board, though Garry had his chances he simply was not getting the luck and could not put a big break together. Bill was steady throughout and deserved his point.
Robin Burgess 2910 Malcolm Greening 1400 A game where neither player really shone, Malcolm left the first break short and then Robin missed it completely. Both players had to work hard to get their points and Robin eventually won through, though Malcolm made every effort to claw back the points.
Mike Edwards 2040 Dave Slater 1700 A completely different game for Dave the second time round with early mistakes letting Mike in to take an early lead that he never gave up. Mike was on fine form and every credit to him as Dave's earlier performance had rattled him a bit before the game.
Great night, nice to catch up with old friends.

A and tragic event that has left his family and friends devastated. Ricky was a decent fella who would do anything for anyone at anytime, he will be missed both on the billiard circuit and around Alfold. Thoughts with his wife Catherine, daughter Rachel, plus all the family.

The Mill 2 Springbok Club 3
Barry 1720 Trevor 2200 Both players had difficulty with the break, but eventually Trevor managed to put a decent score together. Barry worked hard to get the balls back from the bottom of the table, but it was not an easy task and Trevor crept over the line.
Johnny 2980 Gary BP
Johnny flew out the blocks taking the wind out of Gaz's sails. Johnny had the measure of the table from the start and put the young one under pressure. Gaz eventually got going and worked hard to get to within 200 of his opponent, sadly the BP got in the way.
Vicky 2190 Robin 2710 Rob left the split short and Vicky stepped in to tear ahead. Rob was made to work very hard and both players accumulated and lost decent scores on the way. Time worked for Rob in the end with a decent break and the bar dropping.
Alan 2050 Mike 1880 Another close game that saw Alan take the initial lead putting pressure on Mike. Mike got to grips with the table and was never far off Alan's back. As the bar dropped Mike had an opportunity to nick it but the balls dropped into the holes just when he wanted them to stay up for the bigger score.
Mick BP Robin 3550 (4 player rule) Mick started well and put a decent score up, Rob dug deep to claw his was back in, both players were experiencing a difficult time with the table, more so poor Mick who was doing everything to take the point. It was left to the last ball again, with the BP getting in the way.
A decent night, with some very close games. Either team would have been worthy winners. The food provided was fantastic, as is the refurbishment of the pub.

Springbok SC 2 Stout House 'F' 3
Robin 1910 Dave 3710 As expected Dave started steady, but set the tone for the night by missing the second split, Robin so normally solid also found the split a tad awkward and could not respond. Dave built up the score through steady play to put the point on the board.
Gary 3290 Stuart 670 A closer game then the score shows, with Stuart experiencing some bad luck along the way, losing some decent scores. Gaz was not on top form and like the previous game both players struggled with the split.
Bill BP Colin 2160 Theme of the night is no one is getting the split more than once!!! Both Colin and Bill matched each other all the way, Colin putting early pressure on, but Bill came back. The last shot for Bill was the deciding shot, sadly the BP won.
Mike 1160 Scott 3260 Scott steady from the off, giving Mike work to do, however, work he did and Mike was unlucky not to get more from the game. Scott's experience shone through and though no major scores were accumulated steady breaks was the winning combination.
Trevor 1170 Grant BP I hope Grant will agree, but this was a scrappy affair, neither Grant or I could get to grips with the table tonight, both got frustrated and made silly mistakes. Luck got me through at poor Grants expense.
It was an odd night with the table not playing as it usually does, none of us could put our finger on it, table had not been moved and we prepared it as usual. Hey Ho, lets hope next time its back to full health.
Great night with the F's, always enjoy their company. Sarnies and Sausage rolls helped soak up the beer.

Three Compasses 2.5 Springbok Club 2.5
C Tudor 2670 G Marshall 1740 Gaz struggled with the break letting Carl in who stuck to his task putting points on the board in fine fashion. Perhaps there was a little bit of luck, but Carl was well worthy of the point, and as much as he tried Gaz simply could not get the balls back to develop a game changing break.
A Scotcher 1460 T Goacher 1500 This is a game Andy should have won, as he got to grips with the break early on. Sadly for him he got too good at the break, splitting 4 times to lose some hefty points. I came in at the end and needing the 200 pocket to win somehow managed to pull it off.
J Duncton 2500 B Hicks 1890 Nice evenly matched game, with both Jay and Bill putting together some useful breaks. It was Jay's knowledge of the table that won through in the end for a well deserved point.
L Tudor 2680 R Burgess 4630 A great display by both players, with Robin adapting to the table very early on and mastering the pace that so many of us failed to do. Lewis was no pushover and he kept at Robs heels, but a master on the day was not going to be beaten
Fifth game drawn as each team only had 4 players.
Really great night, loads of laughs and a fantastic pasta bake to finish with.

Springbok Club 2 Roffey SSC 3
B Hicks 3100 Pete The Fish 4140 A really good game, both Bill and Pete were on form and pushed each other to the end.
R Burgess 3100 Twiggy 2800 Yet anther decent game, Twiggy took the early lead and loaded the table. Rob worked extremely hard to get the break back and ease ahead as the bar dropped.
T Goacher 850 Moose 5320 One way traffic this one with the Moose hot on his hoof. I had no response other than to smile and wave.
M Edwards 2230 Panda 3950 Obviously the new nickname has spurred Panda on and he flew out of the blocks. Mike worked hard but was given too much to do. All hail Panda, the king (Dementia) is dead.
G Marshall 6490 Glyn 1390 Glyn let Gaz in early and that was about it, the young un was as ever reliable and put plenty of space between him and his opponent, who was left with a mountain to climb.
Great night with some decent games played. Finished off with meatballs and pasta.

Springbok Club 2 White Hart 3 I'll let Trevor do the write up. T Goacher 1690 D Sands 3950 A slow start for both players, actually I never really warmed up, Dave put together a couple of decent breaks to ensure victory M Edwards 730 R Padfield 7530 Two conclusive breaks from Ricky, one being a 4300 secured this one sided competition. Mike had two visits to the table, but could do little about the result. G Marshall 4010 C Barrow 1840 Another game that started slowly, with Gaz eventually doing what he is paid to do. Sparrow did start to nibble back but a 2K break sealed the win for the young un. B Hicks 2610 J Thayre 6400 A good game this one. John missed first split and Bill hit a 2.5k break, john then hit 4.2K followed by a couple of helpful scores. Bill was no way out of this game and deserved more from his endeavors. G Marshall (4 player rule) 4570 P Barnett 1610 Barney broke and left up short, Gaz took advantage and took the lea, one that Barney could not claw back. A great night with our friends from the White Hart, only spoiled by the sight of Ricks cheeks every time he bent down for a shot (and looking at his score that was a lot )Night ended with some decent grub thanks to the chef.

Springbok Club 3 The Mill 2 Will leave it to Scubafrog to provide the details for their fabulous victory. Suffice it for me to say that it was a good evening spent in pleasant surroundings, with some attractive grub provided..... tommo [edit - scores and brief commentary added below]
Gary Marshall 2550, Barry Timson 2450 Trevor Goacher 1740, Alan Downs BP Robin Burgess 6800, tommo 960 Bill Hicks 360, Johnny Haigh 4120 Mike Edwards 2000, Mick Holmwood 6240 A strange match where the result could have gone any one of three ways, (win, tie, defeat) with the first two games both down to the last ball. A masterclass from Robin in game three, keeping me off the table. An early BP from Bill in the fourth with Johnny easing away. No divine intervention in the last, with agnostic Mick vs the Reverend Mike....we joked that the dark forces triumphed over the good. Well done to the Boks, growing in confidence with every season. Sorry Tommo, been away from the PC hence no report. You are right, was a very odd game, which could have gone the three ways as you suggest. Robin was in decent form, proving nothing much wrong with the table.

Soouthwater Club 4 Springbok Club 1 Ray Manser 2310 Mike Edwards 950 Mike was cruising then found the BP , with that Ray stepped in with a steady game and never looked back. Tony Temple 2290 Trevor Goacher 1850 A close game throughout, Tony was as steady as ever, but I stayed within touching distance until the bar dropped and he sunk the red to leave me no chance. Malcolm Blake 2620 Bill Hicks 1070 Bill flew out the blocks only to peg out on over 1K, Malcolm stuck to a steady game and as much as Bill tried to avoid the pegs, tonight they were a magnet. Keith Newman 1730 Robin Burgess 2650 Rob started well and always had his nose in front, though Keith played some lovely shots and was unlucky not to get more from the game. Tony Franks 2370 Trevor Goacher 1650 (fifth player rule) Tony broke and did not get too far ahead, though I did not take advantage. It was a game of nip and tuck and when I did give myself chances on the break messed it up. Not a high scoring game as you will note, but the table played OK, so we are putting it down to post summer blues. Great company as ever, with a few decent sarnies thrown in for good measure.

Springbok Club 1 Wailway 4 Alice 1,100 Mick C 3,210 All I can say is Clacky, who the **** is Clacky Robin 2,310 Skippy 3,950 Adam coming good at the end to take the game Bill 1,620 Sniffer 6,470 Sniffer to strong in the last 10 minutes. Gazza 6,770 Boggy 1,370 Boggy not doing anything wrong. Masterclass from young Gary would have beaten any of us on the night. Trevor 1,660 Stuart 5,640 Trevor starting well and Stu struggling a bit, Stu took control in the last minutes.
An interesting evening in more ways than one, a good night with our friends at the Springbok. Splendid pulled pork rolls yum yum.
Nice of Clive to turn up and thanks for the Champers mate, we were not confident until the last ball had disappeared in the last game.
So the Railway are Champions... just like the captain of the Titanic....I didn't see that coming.....
Congratulations to all the Railway lads, they were fairly nervous at times and it could have gone horribly wrong, but it didn't. See you at finals night.

Limeburners 2 Springbok SC 3 In order of play B Goodchild 3320 B Hicks 2270 Great game this with both Brian and Bill putting together decent breaks, only time denied Bill the chance of a victory in the end. M Davies 1790 G Marshall 3010 A slow starting game with neither Mark of Gary getting to grips with the table, Gary warmed quicker than Mark who was chasing throughout. B Hammond 2240 R Burgess 3130 A close game that had Rob having to put a big score together to deny Bill "Pickle". Both played well and either were worthy of the win. R Dewdney BP M Edwards 1860 A game where Rick was out of sorts and could not get going, despite every effort to get the break back. Mike plodded on, keeping his nose ahead and Rick getting no luck took the BP trying to get something from the game. C Sawyer 4580 T Goacher 1810 I could get the split, but not the one up so left it short on two occasions letting Chip smash in decent scores to put me to the sword. Great night with lovely sarnies and chips. Bills pickles were on show and boy they were hot, hot, hot.

Three Bees 2 Springbok SC 3 S Eely 1830 B Hicks 1850 A game when both Steve and Bill had some dreadful bad luck, Steve was doing enough as the bar dropped, but Bill got the split back and cleared the table to secure the tightest of victories. D Lennon 3030 T Goacher 2050 I missed the first split letting Dave in early, who took full advantage, I chipped away, but the early mistake cost me. Dave was comfortable throughout, almost like he knows the table J Tudhope 960 R Burgess 2890 A game where poor John could not get going and Rob had to work hard at his score. Though always ahead, Rob was aware how John could come back and was relieved when the bar dropped. L Lennon 1320 G Marshall 1040 Both Gaz and Lyn found this hard going with neither making a mark. To be fair Lyn edged this affair with the young un out of sorts. M Lennon 1290 G Marshall 2450 (4 player rule) A time for Gaz to amend his previous bout and boy did Mick make him work for it. Mick started brightly and Gaz had to conjure up all his efforts to get ahead and stay there. This was almost a John moment, but Gaz stopped the rot with the last game to secure the win for Springbok. A really great night with our friends at the Windmill, great grub, decent ale, some eye candy added to the mix perfect night.

Alfold SSC 4 Springbok SC 1
D Slater 2390 G Marshall 2060 Young Gaz struggled with the break but Dave did not capitilise. Table got messy with limited chances to put together large break. Dave worked hard at end to get break back and hit the winning break.
C Greening 1760 R Burgess 1960 Similar game to first with neither Rob or Minor making much of an impact, as bar dropped Rob just ahead to take the point.
G Fishburn 7000 B Hicks 930 Bill started brightly and that was it for him. Garry on top form a break of 4K at the off pretty much said it all.
B Mant 1710 T Goacher 1660 I flew out of the blocks and that was that. Table got loaded with balls and Bradley worked really hard to chip away, losing a decent break along the way. I had my chance as the bar dropped, but lost 500 points to let the young one take a well deserved point.
M Greening 4620 M Edwards 1380 Mike went off OK doing little wrong, however the Major was in fine form and put together some decent breaks. Mike worked hard but did not have the legs.
Great result for the Alfold Lads and well deserved. Great food courtesy of Garry/Delia, good company and lots of laughs.

Springbok 2, Stout A 3 No commentary here as I only turned up for my game at the end, but great to see the guys again! Bill 1360, Tidy 3400 Gary 5210, Tony 1440 Robin 5760, Pete T 2490 Trevor BP, Sam 2870 Mike 1110, Pete H 2100 Good food as well, thanks chaps! Pete Thank Pete, glad to see you though only briefly. Games shaped up thus; Game 1 Both players started slowly, but JT eventually got going, whilst Bill struggled to get balls back. Game 2 Again another slow start but Gaz got the break and stuffed in a decent score that Tony could do little about. Game 3 Pete T no mug and gave a good account of himself. Rob had to dig deep to get into this game which he did with a decent break at the death. Game 4 Both Sam and I started slowly, loading the table with balls, all credit to her, Sam did a fantastic clearance to get the break. I simply was pants and apologies for my stroppy persona, I was just disappointed with my personal game. Game 5. Pete H arriving late showed no signs of fatigue and took an early lead. Mike made every effort to get back some of the points, but on this occasion it just did not happen. Great to see you all, glad you like the meatballs, hope to catch up soon.

Springbok SC 2 Three Bees 3 T Goacher 200 M Lennon 1740 I just could not get to grips with the table once the balls gathered on the bottom cushion. Mike faired a bit better than I and remained patient, whilst I got frustrated (sorry team ) B Hicks 920 S Ely 6540 Bill started OK, but them Steve got on the table and he was in the groove, never looking back, played the split well to a convincing win. R Burgess 3020 L Lennon 1250 A closer game than the score shows with Lyn having a lot to say early on. Rob had to dig deep and put a decent break together near the ens to assure the win. G Marshall 4970 B Dumbrill 1850 Gaz sussed the break, while Barry struggled a little to get going. On another day this game would have been a lot closer, but with Barry getting no luck, young Gaz took the spoils. M Edwards 1210 J Tudhope 3010 The deciding frame and it went the way of John, who was as ever steady. Mike played his part and was unlucky not to put more on the score board. Congratulations to the Three Bee's and thank you to Skip and all at the Limeburners for looking after us all and providing some great sarnies.

Three Compasses 1 Springbok SC 4 Chubb 1100 M. Edwards 1570 Mike was always in control of this game, with Chubb finding it a little hard to get the break back. A Scotcher 840 B Hicks 1230 Result could have been so much different, had Andy not been so determined to take a peg out on each visit. Bill stuck to the task and though not his brightest game did enough on the night. C Tudur 1580 G Marshall 3500 Good game this with both Carl & Gary starting well. Carl was unfortunate not to get more from the game, while Gaz earned his points well to take the frame. L Tudor 1980 R Burgess 2450 Another good game with both players making an early mark. As the game went on Lewis was unlucky not to get more from it, and Rob needed all his experience to manage the table. J Duncton 3000 T Goacher 2100 Not a bad game, just silly errors from me. Jay was in decent form, played some lovely up and down the table shots to sink into the 200, had I had a towel I would have thrown it in at that point. A cracking night with loads of laughs, made very welcome and topped off with a very nice chicken curry, fluffy rice and chips

Springbok SC 1 White Hart 4
M Edwards 1100 C Barrow 1220 A game that Sparrow tried oh so hard to lose and Mike just not clicking when needed. Sparrow struggled throughout, lost points and only a brief flurry at the end saw him cross the line just ahead.
B Hicks 1330 R Padfield 6100 Rick started with decent 1.7K, bill followed up just short of 1K and then Rick put another 3.5K on the board. Bill had no luck and Rick eased to this win.
R Burgess 1260 J Thayre 7940 John was simply hot, hot hot, flew out of the blocks hitting 4.7K at the off and leaving Rob everything to do. Trying too hard to get balls back Rob made errors letting John take full advantage.
T Goacher 1400 D. Sands 4970 Dave started well with a 2K break, I won break back, but came up short and that was about it for me. Dave was content to take advantage of my bad luck!!
G Marshall 6260 P Barnett 1150 A closer game than stated as Barney BP'd midway through. Both played well, Gaz was always a little in front and deserved to get something from the game.
Good evening with our friends from down the road. Lovely spread followed.

Stout House 'Z'S 5 Springbok SC 0
Junkie 3920 B Hicks 2590 Bill started brightly putting decent score on board with Junkie unable to get the break back. Bill chipped away and had it not been for a great effort by Junkie at the death to put a 2K plus break together the result would have been different.
Denise 2980 T Goacher 1250 Jeez I was pants, even though Den tried her hardest to let me win losing 3.5k at the off. I had the chances but messed it up, Den was the worthy winner.
Rick 4940 G Marshall 1500 Young Gaz simply not firing on all cylinders and Rick took a lead that was a bridge too far for his opponent. Gaz just could not get going and had to watch as this one slipped him by.
Rich 3060 M Edwards 1490 A closer game than the result shows with Mike starting well. RP needed all his experience to get back on track to take the game for the 'Z's.
Gibbo 4640 R Burgess 3190 A bit nip and tuck at the start with both Rob and Gibbo struggling a little. Eventually Gibbo got going and though almost matched by the efforts of Rob secured the final point for his team.
Nothing wrong with the break, bottom cushion a little niggly but no complaints. Decent grub, a few laughs and we all seem to have developed peculiar tics.

R Manser 2860 M Edwards 150 Really not Mikes night, struggled with the break, but not with the pegs! Ray made steady in roads to claim the game.
K Newman BP T Goacher 2290 I found the break twice then missed the 1 up by a mile!! Keith took advantage and moved ahead. A late high break from me put Keith under pressure who needing thee 200 with the last ball to draw the game BPd.
M Blake 2820 R Burgess 2460
Very close game seeing the lead going to Rob then Malc, neither player did anything wrong, just local knowledge of the table giving Malc the slight advantage.
A Temple 4680 B Hicks 1600 Tony rolled back the years and played some magnificent strokes, Bill was as worthy in his response, but just could not get enough table time to make an impact.
T Franks 3790 G Marshall 3530 A great game this, with both players respecting each others game. Gaz started well and as expected tony bit back. Tony nudged in front and with time running out Gaz had a chance, but played the wrong shot, leaving Tony to cross the line ahead of him.
Great night, with some good games, rounded off with decent sandwiches and nuggets.

Springbok SC 1 Roffey SSC 4 Special report on behalf of the Moose so excuse the rambling B Hicks 600 J Greensted 7280 The Silver Fox was slow out of his den, failing to find the break, but unfortunately Bill was off colour feeling a little sheepish and was unable to pen the Fox back. With the smell of success in his nostrils the Fox set about his task and in a flurry of shots, he put together a couple of decent breaks to ensure the game was out of Bills grasp. With the cunning Fox grinning from ear to ear, and Bill licking his wounds there was one shining factor, that there had been no Fowl play. R Burgess 4950 D. Cable 4650 A closer affair here, with both Dementia and Rob making a slow start, Rob then got into the flow and put together a break that saw him shooting ahead of Dementia. Dementia battled on but was finding the break a little frustrating, almost driving him mad. Rob again stole some more points to put himself in command, but Dementia raised his game with a decent score at the end that with more time could have changed the outcome of the game. T Goacher 460 P Fisher 7360 A game of the water bourne beasts, though Scubafrog was more like a flapping fish than his counterpart. Pete missed the break leaving the Frog every chance to leap ahead, but he spawned it. Then Pete found the break and put together two very commanding scores to put the game beyond reach of his amphibious foe. Pete played a halibut of a game, destroying the sole of the frog and rightly claiming the accolade of the codfather. M Edwards 890 D Howett 6240 Twiggy donning a very effective 3D image of himself on his T Shirt started slow, but Mike was unable to take advantage. The Twig then set about his business and with his confidence growing never looked back, 3 decent breaks later he had shed his earlier nerves and branched into a winner. Mike could only bough to his opponent, feeling a little ash-en, he could only stand and admire the mighty oak. G Marshall 3200 L Cable 6260 The Moose started more like a Mouse with a weak attempt at the break, this left the Young Un to step up and with all expecting much he too fell short. The game was very even until Gaz put together a decent score, leaving the Moose to chase the game, which he did. Locking his antlers with his opponent he slowly built up a break that saw him moove ahead. With time running out and with the game looking lost Gaz was given the chance to snatch the game, but sadly fell short which cost him deer. A fine and jolly evening with our friends from Roffey, plenty of banter and physical abuse!!!! Hmm Hmm Twiggy!!! Tonight proved very little wrong with the top other than the home team struggling to get on it. Again apologies for the rambling on

Springbok SC 2 Limeburners 3
R Burgess 6200 M Davies 2150
Poor Mark was suffering from one heck of a cold and this made the going even tougher for him. He left the break up short twice to let Robin storm ahead with breaks that included one of 4.5K. Mark rallied late on, but time got the better of him.
T Goacher 1550 C Sawyer 3500
Chip flew out of the blocks only to leave an awkward ball which he missed. I then fluffed my chance, but only for Chip to blow another decent score. I then did the same, losing 2K and that was about it. A scrappy affair.
B Hicks 1990 R Dewdney 5410
Rick took an early lead and looked comfortable. Bill hit back wit some decent shots, but not quite reaching Rick's score. Rick put together another break at the death to seal the win.
G Marshall 5330 K Vickery 650
Ken did not get to grips with the break and Gary took advanage, though he too struggled early on. Gary eventually got in tune with the table to even up the match.
T Goacher (4 player rule) 1640 B Hammond 2340
Bill started strongly leaving me to chase his starting score. I eventually made some in roads, but like my previous game struggled to get going. Bill continued to play steady to claim the game for the Burners.
Pleasant night with the Billingshurst boys, decent grub to finish

R Burgess 6100 B Dumbrill 1930 Barry started OK but then left split up short. Robin never looks a gift horse in the mouth and took full advantage. Barry did get some table time, but not enough to make an impression.
T Goacher 2110 S Ely 5230 Neck and neck at early stages then Steve found the break and the rest was history, I had a chance, but came up short, good game though.
B Hicks BP M Lennon 2660 Both players started slow and Bills recent form seemed to have abandoned him. Mike then started to chip away and was a good 1K in front when Bill got within a couple of hundred of Mikes Score. Bar drops, nerves get the better of both, but Bill gets to the point of last ball down the 200 pocket, BP, hey ho.
M Edwards 1250 L Lennon 2240 Lin was in good form and got to grips early on, Mike was doing nothing wrong and continued to play some great shots, but really was chasing the game throughout. Lin deserved the win and looked mighty relieved.
G Marshall 4550 Tom (Sorry do not know surname)1440 Tom shot out the blocks and took an early lead, which Gaz could not respond to. Tom continued to chip away and it took a good break from the young lad to claim this point.
Great night, really friendly and a joy to be involved with. Thanks

Springbok Club 5 Alfold SC 0
T. Goacher 3350 M. Greening 1670 The Major found the break, but then left balls short to let me in. I got a modest break and that was pretty much the pattern for the game with the Major getting no luck at all.
B. Hicks 3160 K. Slater 800 Kelly let Bill in early on and he hit a decent break, only for the scorer to fail to record it on the board!! This did not deter Bill from his mission and he put together a couple of high breaks to secure the win.
M. Edwards 2090 G. Fishburn 1870 (Played 4th) This was a very close game throughout with the lead going from one to the other. Garry, really could not get his usual smooth game together and Mike took advantage, doing just enough to ensure the points were in the bag as the bar dropped.
R. Burgess 6860 D. Slater 730 Robin was in top form, Dave left the break short and Robin put over 1K on the board, quickly followed by 3.9K. Dave struggled to get the balls back as was unable to get in any rhythm make a mark.
G. Marshall 2960 C. Greening 2140 Another very close game. The Minor got to grips with the table early on having no trouble with the split. Gaz came back at him as you would expect. With only a few minutes to go Minor was at the table with his tail up and looked to have secured the win, but disaster struck as the ball found Peggy, letting Gaz in to clear the table and win a very close contest.
The score line does not reflect all of the games and our friends from down the road were fairly unlucky. Great banter as you could imagine, followed with some decent grub.

Springbok SC 4 Three Compasses 1
T Goacher 1080 Jacob Ereira 1910 Young Jacob deserved this win, I simply did not get to grips with the game, whilst he kept putting together modest breaks. (5 for BFZ for me so far)
B Hicks Lewis Tudor A close game for the most of it, with Bill losing decent scores along the way. Lewis was nudging ahead, when a late break saved gave the point to Bill
G Marshall 3670 Jason Duncton 1780 Well Jason at least won the bet that he would draw Gary again!! Jay struggled with split and let in Gary to put a decent score on the board. Jay then found the split to apply some pressure, but did not have the legs to regain the ground he had lost early on.
R Burgess 2870 Carl Tudor 1170 A closer game than the result shows with both players have some trouble with the table. Robin eventually took hold of the game, but Carl was unlucky along the way.
K Nixon 1560 Andy Scotcher 1110 This was a close game throughout and Ken playing his first game for a year was playing shots of a seasoned pro. Andy's recent form seemed to be abandoning him, but he too showed glimmers of why he has had a great start to the season. At then end the bar beat Andy and gave a 100% win rate for the Crooner from Widnes.
This result could have so easily been reversed, the home team had a bit more good luck than our friends from down the road.

White Hart 4 Springbok SC 1
John Thayre 4180 Mike Edwards 1060 The quirky split made it difficult for Mike to get going, while the old pro John was as steady as ever.
Ricky Padfield 3990 Robin Burgess 2210 Rob started brightly, with Rick matching him, both players found the white peg, but the turning point is when Rob took out the Black. Though he made a valiant attempt to claw back the lost points, time was against him.
Barney 3460 Scubafrog 2040 I left the split up early on and Barney took full advantage, I had my chances but really should have done more with them. Barney remained in control without feeling much pressure.
Colin Barrow 2270 Bill Hicks 1610 A close game this with Bill starting well, Sparrow kept nibbling away and with an awkward ball behind the 100 hole Bill brushed the black to lose his points, again like Rob he fought back well, but the bar dropped.
Dave 750 Gary Marshall 6740 Gary was in control throughout with Dave have very little table time. Gary mastered the break, where so many had failed on the night.
As ever a great evening with our local rivals, always good to catch up with them. Great Chilli and rice to finish the evening.

Springbok 1 Stout House Z 4 Trev has the scores And here they are Bill Hicks 1220 Denise 5900 Denise got to grips with the awkward break early on, Bill just could not get going. Gary Marshall 1080 Rick 3480 Similar game as before with Rick taking control early on and Gary failing to make an impact. Trevor Goacher 1160 Vern 5120 MMMMM, Well Vern let me in early (twice) the second time I blew a decent score and that was about it. Robin Burgess 4190 Richard 2320 Richard and Robin both blew 1K breaks at the start. Robin then got the opportunity to stick a decent score on the board and from there on it was a chasing game for Richard. Mike Edwards 690 junkie 2590 Junkie always in control, Mike could not replicate his stunning form from last week. Great night, plenty of banter, decent grub. We miss the old fella

A future Billingshurst Interleague player in the making for sure!!! (maybe Horsham...?) I will take the credit for young Bradley, I encouraged him to play as he is a junior county pool player, spent pre season practicing with him and he loves it. And yes if he sticks to it he will be one to watch, Alfold better keep a hold of him, as fully intend to try and bribe him with a promise of regular game of cricket, where I happen to captain him.

Mill 3 Springbok 2 according to Margo....... I have the scores but would prefer to leave Scubafrog to submit his writeup first should he wish to do so. A close match by all accounts. Cheers Tommo, missed you last night mate Alan Downs 3370 Trevor Goacher 800 Both started slowly, I just could not get to grips with the pace of the table. Eventually Alan go the beak back and job done. Victoria Timson 2260 Mike Edwards 3930 Mike started very brightly, only to be matched by Victoria, Mike was on fine form and kept hitting decent scores and though she gave a good account of herself, Victoria just could not overcome his early lead. Margot Thompson 2750 Gary Marshall 5250 Gary started with a whim, whilst Margot blasted out of the locks, hitting a couple of decent breaks to storm ahead. Gary had to use all his natural ability to get back into the game and once he sussed the break he never looked back. He did sweat a bit though John Haigh 5600 Robin Burgess 920 Robin had similar issues with the table as I with the pace catching him out. John was however, very much on form and really was never under pressure. Barry Timson 3460 Bill Hicks 1300 Bill started brightly, but when Barry go the chance he too them well talking an early lead. Bill tried to claw his way back, but it was a too late as the bar beat him. Greta night, good sandwiches, matches were close and we were pleased to get the 2 points.
