Are you lot serious? You lot are EVIL Last year you forced me to start drinking at ten Saturday morning and from then on made sure I didn't have an empty glass, then sometime during the day I got asked to leave the local supermarket, can't remember why, then at the end of the four pin you bunch of no gooders chucked me into a car and took me to a Chinese restaurant in the middle of no where and made me drink even more, then when I left you the only place I could find open was a dodgy pub with a strip club opposite, needless to say I ended up in the strip club, at 5am finally i decided it was time to find my hotel but totally lost I jumped in a cab,the driver hardly spoke a word of English but I gave him the hotel name and he managed to reply "seven pounds please" I paid him m the money and he then proceeded to drive me about 300 metres up the road before stopping at the hotel front door, think I finally got to bed at 5-45 only to be woken up by del asking if I was going to get breakfast and then at 10 that morning it all started again

He probably didn't have pink balls either
Totally random but I do remember seeing a scene in dad's army where they were in the pub and there was a bar billiards table in the background

Over half the places have now been taken with still around six weeks before the closing date for entries so things are looking good. Please remember entries are taken on a first come first served basis and we have the promise of a good few more entrants from the sudbury league to come. You can either download the entry form and send it off with a cheque or if you prefer to transfer your entry fee straight into our bank account please send me a PM on here and I'll give you the details.
The bay horse rooms are fully booked for the Friday night and the last time I spoke to them they had just one room left for the Saturday night.
It would also be helpful if people could give an indication as to whether they will be at the now traditional bay horse piss up on the Friday so we have an indication of numbers
Looking forward to seeing you in March for another fun four pin open

The Bay Horse ‘B’ have suffered a very up and down season so far in the Industrial Electrical Services Sudbury and District Bar Billiard League but recorded their best win of the season when visiting fourth placed Red House All Stars. After sharing the doubles Jeff Bridges top scored with 2240 to give the visitors the lead and this was followed by Rob Cansdale narrowly winning 1270-1150 to increase the lead. The match was won in the next as Tracy Reeve clinched the points for her team. The All Stars rallied in the remaining two games with good wins from Lee Harman and John Henderson that made the final score 4-3. The Brook Gloves were another team to record a convincing away victory when the guests of the Taverners. The Gloves won both doubles before Kevin Patrick halved the arrears but this was to be Taverners only win. Luke Cole-Watts top scored with 1960 and Joe Andrews-Worth, Andy Hill and Dan Ackland-Lang followed with comfortable wins to give the Gloves a 6-1 win. The Saracens continue to keep pace at the top end of the league but faced a tricky looking encounter at Edwardstone White Horse. They were not fazed by the task in hand and easily won both doubles. Chip Millins made it 3-0 and this was soon increased as Dick Cheshire top scored with 1590. Melvyn Willis stopped the rot but Ian Furlonger then won a close game 1420-1300. Georgia Munson pulled another one back for the Horse but it was all in vain as the Saracens clocked up a 5-2 victory. Brewery Tap entertained Hadleigh Cock and soon found themselves trailing 2-0 with the Hadleigh outfit winning both doubles. Tap responded when Pete Lillie won the opening singles. John Raine made it 3-1 and a last ball 200 by Melvin Tilbury made sure of the win. Pat Parmenter reduced the arrears but the Cock made it 5-2 when Graham Rolfe won the final game. The Bay Horse ‘A’ maintain their relentless pursuit of the title with a 7-0 whitewash against Stanningfield Red House ‘B’. Having won both doubles the Horse players excelled with all of them scoring in excess of 2000. The visitors were unable to live with their opponents and comfortable wins by Jason Lawrence, Jeremy Fry, Dave Lillie, Steve Hale and Alasdair Carnegie completed a comfortable win.

Taffy not sure where you've got your 6mm from, sudbury rules give no measurement and just say "Pegs shall be placed (the baulk line side) to cover the 200 hole, the 100 hole, and the two 50 holes."
I can sorta see your logic in changing the table dimensions to suit your game at home and make certain shots easier for you. But that won't help you outside your house where every table is different. I've yet to play on any table set up for four pin where with a couple of practice shots the 200 up in the corner and back is not possible. Some tables need a little side on the ball whole other are just a straight shot. On our narrow table it's a hard shot and many players prefer to go off the right cushion just past the 50 hole with right hand side taking the ball off the side cushion and up between the 10 and 20 hole and back in the 200
Sometimes though we seem to forget this is just a pub game and we over complicate things

Taffy The red up in the corner and back in the 50 is the break shot every bay horse player goes for, even if it stops short it's there for the next shot, cue ball up the top and back to knock the red down

Taffy red up in the corner and back in the 50 while the cue off the cushion into the opposite 50 is the only way to a 150 break. Ask the Hastings lot and the England team, they all tried the standard split break shot with little success.
You will have to come down the bay horse the Friday before our open and join in the traditional pre open piss up, there's normally a few games played in-between drinking

A meeting of the Suffolk BBA was held last night where it was decided the East Anglian Air Ambulance would be our chosen charity, so once again we ask you all if you will concider donating anything that can be used as a raffle prize on the day to help us raise funds.
It was also agreed that as the official closing date for entries is the 28th February our next meeting will be on the 1st of March where the draw for the E A four pin open will take place, venue to be agreed, but if anyone wants to come along to witness the draw you are more than welcome and I will be happy to advise the venue once it is confirmed, but it will probably be the bay horse. If the number of entries hasn't reached 64 at the time of the draw empty spaces will simply be entered as byes in the group stages, any late entries will then replace the byes in turn.
Prize money was confirmed as follows
Winner of the four pin open will receive £100, plus the trophy and a smaller trophy to keep
Runner up of the open will receive £50 plus a trophy to keep
Winner of the plate will receive £40 plus the plate and a trophy to keep
And the runner up of the plate will receive £20 plus a trophy to keep
The losing semi finalists in both competions will receive a small medallion as a keeps sake.
Once again I would like to say thank you to everyone in anticipation of your support, lets hope that once again it is a successful and fun tournament.
Good luck to everyone and see you in March

Hi Taffy, Re: 4-Pin, yes indeed the 150 shot has been employed to good effect in Opens so far, particularly by the guys from Eastbourne. One guy from Suffolk, Chris Day, also was doing two down one way and then same shot the other way round - but he's only entered one Open so far. Rgds tommo Tommo you are right, Chris Day was a great player, he played for the bay horse B team, he gave up bar billiards ages ago though to concentrate on pool, which he now plays at national level. I remember watch one one league game between Chris and Luke Cole-Watts, Chris started of with an amazing break, cant remember the figure but think it was around the 5k mark, his break was mainly made break shots, red down one 50 and the white down the other 50 hole and then after 3 Times reversing the break shot. Luke came to the table thousands behind and replied with an even bigger break. As you may remember the preferred break shot on a narrow table is the red up into the corner and back into one 50 while the cue ball goes off the side cushion into the oppisite 50. In our league we have a right mixture of tables and on some the 50-50 split break shot is on, but the problem with our league is we play for the fun and social side (dinking lots) and tables are not maintained in the best of conditions and often roll off to ome side or the other. Anyway this is all

Well number 14 has been bugging me, meet him once a year, I thought of Santa but I have never been good enough but as some of you trot of to Jersey once a year all I can think of is Bergerac, not sure if thats how to spell it though.
Maybe we should have some quiz sheets at the EA open, 50p a sheet, half the money to the winner and half to charity
Is 19 Bad Girls? Ive just been watching it on you tube, sad I know but bored sitting at home waiting for Colin to arrive at mine from pompey so we can go for a beer and a game or two

Ok, so looks like I may just have a drive out there over the weekend as that really doesn't look like the pub as I remember many years ago, it was posh then, not cheap wooden flooring etc
I'll have to take an extra peg and maybe a set of rules
