We have a wooden top in our league, just as well we dont take our game too seriously as to say the table is a challenge is an understatement

All the supreme tables I've seen are normal width, it would be interesting to know if they make a narrow version.

There were a number of people that helped to set up including some from Sudbury, wish I new the names of the Sudury players, me and Gill Saville - it was not a two man event. x That is a very good point, we expected and hoped for help from Sudbury players although only a handful of them turned up and it was noted that both Gill and yourself were good at screwing and shedding some light on things. I really did appreciate all your help, the same has to be said with all the help we had taking the tables down afterwards

I am over the moon to tell you that we will be sending off a cheque to funding Neuro over the weekend for the amazing total of £500 May I please thank each and everyone of you who came to our open and helped us raise this money by donating raffle prizes, putting in to our collections and then buying raffle tickets. On the day we raised just over £490, which included a donation of over £50 from the girls who were doing the food, that ammounted to their entire profit, so they served us all day out of the kindness of their hearts and didn't take a penny for themselves. The SBBA chucked in the last few quid to round the total off to £500.
I must also thank Jeremy Fry and Specflue for their continued support and sponsorship and the Masonic for giving us the venue free of charge, I think you will all agree it was far better than spoons.
Hope to see you all again next year

Sav were you staying at the actual mill hotel, big white building that probably has hotel written on it or at the mill house? which I'm told is opposite If it's any consolation I don't remember you babbling Friday night, but to tell the truth I don't remember much from Friday night or Saturday night come to that, I do sorta remember being dragged up the tavern, I'm Dam sure I said I didn't wanna go but as always I was forced into it. Most of us then ended up back at the bay but two people were missing, I think I heard food mentioned Can't wait for next year

I dont know about that, but I can confirm it doesn't relate to the number of pints he drunk either, I think we done that many in the first hour on Friday afternoon guess that shows the pure class of the gentleman, he kept up with us Suffolk piss heads but still managed to walk away with the winners trophy and prize money. A truley worthy champion.

The New venue was a challenge for us but I hope you all agree it was for the good, far more space, and all in all just better.
While we worked hard in the build up to this tournament I really must take my hat off and thank the four girls who worked so hard durning the day, Sarah and Gillian ran our admin desk with pin point precession while Lucy and Debbie worked their butts off providing hot drinks and food throughout the day and I must stress they financed everything themselves, keeping the prices to us players down to a minimum, they were never out to make any money for themselves and they did infact donate the fifty odd pounds proffit they made to our charity pot, which I know made around £500, as soon as I know the final figure I will let you know.
I must also pass on my sincere thanks to Chris Saville and Dave Alder who were there with us in the silly early hours of Saturday morning making sure the tables were set up and ready in plenty of time for our 10-30 start, also a very big thank you from me to Chris Cass for all the work he put in behind the scene and of course for the superb programmes and also a massive pat on the back to Luke for his IT skills, we do like to think that having the scores along with the draw etc on the tv is far better and easier to keep track of then the paper chains used in some opens. We do or course also send out our appreciation and thanks to Specflue and Jeremy Fry for the continued sponsorship
But the really big thank you goes out to each and every person who makes the efford to come along to our open, whether you were playing or just there to support us, with out you our open would never take place
Hopeully see you all next year where im sure we will be able to chuck in a few more surprises and I would love to hear your thoughts on a "world four pin open"
Thanks again and congratulations to every one who took part. Only bad news for sav is that by winning we he has already gained free entry into next years tournamnet meaning he will have to come back up Suffolk and help us drink more beer.

I'm not too sure how up to date the map is that ive been looking at, , but it shows the north street tavern as a four pin non league table, the tavern does have a team and they are indeed in the Sudbury league.
There is also one new venue with a table, at the moment four pin non league but they should be joining the league next season. The Brook inn, 241 Bures Rd, Great Cornard, Sudbury CO10 0JQ

Lol tommo, ive just got to remember where my cue is. You're right though you will have to remember how to play four pin (as if you havent been practicing) there is more to four pin than just two shots only joking we all know it tales alot of skill to master them. Main thing to remember is the red must always be in play until its sunk after the bar has dropped, last ball down any hole off at least one cushion and the baulk line is still where the green ends and not the baulk lines you use in three pin. I did try to get a new rule in, anyone whose name begins with one of the first four letters of the alphabet gets a 3000 point start, Al and Chris Cass would of been ok with it but sorry Clive everyone voted against it

As there are no comments I'm guessing no one has their programmes yet.
If you have been drawn in groups 1 - 8 please try to be at the venue by 10am ready for a 10-30 start Groups 9 - 16 should kick off at 1pm so make sure you arrive in time to register and buy me a drink
See you all next week

As always Chris Cass has done us proud with the programmes, these were posted out to all non four pin players and the single three and half pin player mid week, so hopefully if you haven't received them yet they will arrive shortly. As Chris has said the venue is in the same street as that other place where we have played before so parking is basically the same, free in the car parks but don't forget to get your ticket, please be advised that although there are no double yellow lines in the road outside the Masonic Hall parking is restricted to one hour maximum, great for you park outside and off load your donations for the raffle but no good for anything else as the traffic wardens are very unforgiving. Also don't forget for those of you who are down on the Friday night that we will be having a pre-open get together (piss up) at the Bay Horse, we plan to have two narrow tables available for you to play on so you can sample how different four pin really is when played on a good old narrow table. Looking forward to seeing you all next weekend for a fun time. Dave

I apologise if I have upset anyone, that was never my intentions
I have only been involved with this message board for about three years so have no idea how things worked before, but as I have not been blinkered by previous events it was obvious in my eyes that the AEBBA seems to rely heavily on just a few individuals. The web site, table deliveries, keeping records and rankings upto date seem to fall on the shoulders of the same few people, who as far as we can see get little or no recognition for all their hard work.
I hope we all love the game and as such should all pull together. Many hands make light work and all that. I have no idea how much something as basic as a web site takes to run but surely that should be a priority?
Once again sorry if I have upset anyone with my comments

These are my thoughts and I must stress nothing to do with Suffolk
I find it not only amazing but also a disgrace that the AEBBA doesn't have a web site. It seems people are happy to sit back while others give their time free to try to better our game. I'm sure at one AGM I heard talks about trying to get a promotions person and giving them a budget to spend, thankfully it never happened, but if there was money available for that surely it would be far better spent on paying someone to run an official web site rather than hoping someone will do it off their own back and at their own expense. Here in Suffolk we promote our own game with great success, newspaper reports every week, word of mouth and local radio. We already know of at least one new team (all youngsters) who will be joining our league next season so it is working for us.
We work hard in Suffolk and use our competitions to raise money for charity, not just our open but also competions during our league season and this really helps to raise our profile within our community. But on that note in the past while begging for sponsorship and donations towards our open, I have been able to direct people to the AEBBA web site which has really helped, this year the only option I've had is to guide people towards a message board.
I really think its time for the AEBBA to grow up and move with times, a web site is vital for us, can we really expect to entice new people into our game when we don't seem to even be able to keep our own house in order.
Buying a domain name can only cost a few pence, the real expense is setting up and running a website and why should someone be expected to pay for this out of their own pocket? For far too long so many have relied on so few to do everything for them. If we wish to continue down this route then surely the 'few' need to be appreciated and rewarded and I dont mean by the odd thank you. People must spend hours of their own time working out rankings, producing news letters etc.
Like I say these are only my thoughts and I really hope I havent upset anyone as that was never my intentions, now I've had my Saturday morning rant its time to duck out and carry on with the decorating.

I think there will be a few 3 pinners practicing the 30-20 break both ways rather than the 50-50 break over the coming weeks and wish all participants a fun weekend The trouble is Gandalf I think youve hit the nail on the head there, some three pinners will be practicing but there is no point in us four pinners even bothering as our tables are completely different as im sure you remember and the Northants and England select players who've visited the bay will be able to confirm.

Well that's stuffed it, unfortunately three players have been forced to pull out so that puts us back to 53 entries so far. Another four from the four pinners will hopefully come in either today or tomorrow, so please put your thinking caps on and see if you can think of anyone we can get to join us.
