Hi Sean I don't think that Alan Donovan is playing with Deano in the pairs. Alan already has a partner and Deano is looking for one if you know of anyone. Thanks Dawn Hello - I've sent my entries to Sean and am also looking for a doubles partner. Thanks, Gary

The Vine 1 - 4 Tarring Club Neil Higgins | 2730 | 4540 | Matt Jones * | Paul Barnett | 3270 | 3880 | Mike Formoy * | Ros Appleby | 1940 | 3020 | Dave Collins * | Tony Burgess | 1040 | 1790 | Bepo * | Gary Ridley | 5150 | 1390 | Tony Collins * |
Table very tough at the top tonight, none more so than in Tony vs Bepo with 5 + balls on table most of the time. Biggest break was 2k. Suffice to say we're struggling 5 breaks away in these games. Well played Tarring, deserved winners on the night.

Technically correct literal translation, have to agree. Hopefully unwritten common sense rule prevails and break would go to lower division team or where teams are same division, decided by toss of coin.

Tarring Club 3 - The Vine 2 Bepo 640 v Paul* 6,940 David* 4,020 v Tony B 910 Mike 5,720 v Nick* 1,800 Matt* 7,020 v Neil 1,010 Tony C 1,850 v Gary 5,800
Good night with the Tarring Club at the Henty. Scores to be made on the 50s & 100s. Top of the table very hard work and inconsistent. Key match on third with a crucial and interesting 3k break from Mike to go 2-1 up. Best break of the night in the 4th by Matt, a slowly and carefully compiled 6k and touch leaving Neil 8 minutes but off first shot. Congrats to Tarring and good luck in the final. Shout out to the pub for the yummy Sweet & Sour Chicken.

Vine 2 - 3 Blue Anchor Told Blue Anchor wins for Alan Mepham, Andy Farmer-Wright and Kim Hurley in the decider. Yes. Alan beat Ros in the first game, solid game by Alan, not much run of the ball for Ros, missing the break when getting the balls back didn't help, courtesy of the red ball moving on the spot. AFW winning with the break against Neil, best match of the night. I got them back towards the end against Steve towards the end to bring us back into it. Tony holding his break game against an out of sorts Welsh wizard to level things. So to the decider. Tony for us by virtue of 4PR. A close game throughout with Tony ahead but Kim getting the break back in the last few minutes to close out the win. Am sure Mr Jones will provide the scores. A good match in an exceptionally loud and busy pub with a music quiz going on. Good evening with the BA guys and girl.

The Vine 5 Alexandra A 0 A testing table with the home team taking their opportunities. Tony beat James in first leg, Barney beating Rick in the second and Ros closing out the win against Joe. Wins for Gary against Pete and Barney (4pr) against Steve to finish proceedings. Good company and great result for us. Scores to follow.

The Vine 4 Stags Head A 1 Scores, details to follow Tony Burgess - 2,350 vs - 2,460 Ian Lelliott (last ball win) * Neil Higgins * - 4,580 vs 3,370 Jim Millward Gary Ridley* - 4,270 vs 1,400 Dave Ingram Ros Appleby - 1,920 vs 790 Martin Smith * Gary Ridley (4PR) - 4,050 vs 2,320 Mark James * A tough night accumulating any score, and oh so easy to lose them, quite a few pegs. The most difficult the table has been all season. What run of the ball that there was fell to the home team, that is for sure, but we were steady and got over the line for a great win (Ros getting the vital win after a game that was 300 plays 400 after 15 minutes). We now sign off for Christmas and New Year. A good evening with the guys from the Stags Head, no luck for them on the table but they were victorious in the quiz in a noisy pub last night. Thanks to the pub for the food. Mr Barnett was keeping in touch from a distance as he enjoyed a curry in Leicester! Happy Christmas and New Year to all.

For me this is such sad news, even though we knew in Jersey that he wasn't a well man. So many good times and so many fond memories from such a long time ago. In my formative BB years at the Bridge in Shoreham in the mid to late seventies Charlie was one of the stand out guys who got me and others playing. As all have alluded to, an absolute gent, win or lose. Such a nice guy to chat with about life experiences or anything and nothing. Never a bad word from anybody about Charlie. Just great memories of a great guy whether playing or being with him, in the Worthing and Brighton leagues or in Jersey. Will miss you so much Charlie. RIP now with Gina who as we know was the love of your life. A truly great couple. Condolences to all close to Charlie.
