Ken,
So sorry to read this. From your posts, it is so clear that she had fought so much in recent times and as hard as it may be now, she is no longer in pain and is at rest. My sincere condolences to you on your loss.

We looked at the AGM propsal that spoke of teams that only had 4 players. Does this actually apply whatever the number, e.g. 2 or 3 and if you had 3 could two play again. Ros is correct that we did not know in advance and Tony did try and contact Dave.

Swan Nomads 5 - Tarring Club 0
Two weeks running with opponents having only three players. Each week we have just played the first three with the last two being walk-overs. As the defaulting team only had three players we worked on the basis that the four player rule doesn't apply.

Thanks Bob, gives me a frame to build a web page F/Night report around. If there are any scores available from the Team Cup & Plate finals I will include those too. I would like to say thanks to the Mid Sussex organising committee for another great night. Well done to Bob - Mens Singles champ again, beating the most illustrious of opposition. And also to Lorraine, retaining the Ladies Singles title after a really tense tussle with Jan Bithell. Tickled pink that me and the missus won the Mixed a full 36 years after winning the first-ever one as newlyweds ! Will add some photos when I get a chance..... tommo The photos of you as newlyweds will be interesting, lol

Gary and Nick won 2-1 last night at the Hassocks against Chase and Dave in a close run contest. How to describe the table, hmmmmmm.......... probably unfair to say 'DOLLOP' as others may. You could get scores on it but the top of the table is a law unto itself and all a bit inconsistent.

Windmill Z 4 BHCC 1 Tommo beats Trevor Graham beats Nick Foxy beats Spud Mick beats Ros Barry lost to Mr Ridley Well done to the Zeds, too much for us on the night. Steady play from Tommo to take the first, Nick settled into the table a little too late to catch Graham. Good recovery from Foxy after earlier lost break to close out against Spud, best of the night for Mick (just short of 11k) leaving Ros with no chance though still a good response. Off early for me but settled down and two breaks to give a 9k score. Evening finished off by Nick winning the battle against the sandwiches!!

Gary and Nick beat Dave and Chris 2-1 at Marquis tonight. Certainly interesting in terms of the table. Nick to break off in first game only to find no red ball when bar pulled. Reverend had key so we opened table up, no red ball. Start delayed while Colin went home to return with a spare set of balls. If you think the Smugglers isn't good, don't come here. Opening breaks across the four games of nil, 3,700, 900 and 450. Table uphill causing balls to whip out most of the night. Chris' 3,700 in the second was more than the winning score for games 1 and 3, a great break that took the best part of nine minutes to compile. Table clearly changed during the three games but we couldn't work it out. Not sure we deserved to win. nor did Dave and Chris deserve to lose. Somewhat of a lottery. Be positive though, lots of visits for all. Thanks to Colin for scoring all 3.

Good luck to all participating. I will be travelling as you compete. So, you may or may not know I have been a Slimming World member for three/four months now. Thought I needed to do something to compensate for good living and sandwiches at Bar Billiards. Around the time of joining I did also enter the Great North Run (this Sunday) through the public ballot, on the basis that given how many people apply that I was safe to assume there was no way I would be successful. Lesson 1 – never assume anything! I was successful. So I need to lose weight and to do some jogging/running I thought. Well, the weight piece has been progressing with over 16 kilos shed (2 and a half stone in old money – in sixteen weeks), but the jogging hadn't really gained momentum. Lots of time though I was thinking. Lesson 2 – time does pass quickly, panic! I have just forced myself out onto the streets, with less than a week to go, lol Twenty five miles in one week later, my legs hurt like hell and my knee is playing up and I'm now convinced I can't run but can shuffle as Chris Evans pointed out in terms of non-runners in the Great North Run. Anyway, I’ll be there on Sunday and it will just be a point of getting through it (13.1 miles, lost at the back of 57,000 participants, taking part and raising funds for St Barnabas). I know there are many sponsorship requests around for people running for good causes, but they’ve probably done it all properly, trained, planned etc. My challenge is greater, even when I was younger I didn't do this, I have little or no preparation for this (self-inflicted I know), so a more worthy cause! The link below will take you to a Just Giving page where you'll find me if you feel inclined to support. If you just want to say good luck then that’s fine also or just take pity on me. www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Gary-Ridley1

Swan Nomads vs Henty
Beaten by the Oakley boys. Wins for Nick against James and Gary against Bob in games 1 & 4 for the homies. Phil beat Tony in game 2, Chris beat Neil in game 3 and Joe won against Lyn in the last. 3-2 to the visitors. Closest game Phil against Tony, which got a bit scrappy but a good clearance of some difficult balls by Phil to close it out.
