Hi, I remember the Ham being in the All england finals, I did not play for them at the time as I was still playing for the Gardeners, but I do remember the team as I went along to support them the team was : Peter O`Brien. Sheila Pinner. Peter Rourke. John Symington. Dave Flavin. They did not do very well as I remember but the drinking session was good.

Hear Hear Tony, I am with you all the way, we need to encourage new, young players into the game or it will die. If they want more than one inter-league team from the same pub please let them and support them and there obviously keen landlord. The majority of current players have been playing for 20 years plus, so bring on the youngsters. Good luck to you all.

I think I can see Alan Stempien, Mick Fairs and Mick Wright. The last one on my picture was Ray Kaveney.

Clive is correct with Joe Stempien, and Vinny Ryan is front right. Only one left, I will give my last clue, Dave may get it this time, third from the left with glasses used to play for the Labour club in Wick, has won the Littlehampton singles, and played in the same team as Pat Williams and her husband( whose name escapes me). This picture was taken at the Labour club on presentation night the year Littlhampton first won the Inter-league division one, and yes Dave it was more likely to be the late 70`s.

Well done Dave yes it is Nigel Slade, the ones you have got correct between you are from the left back row, Frank Sumner, Ray Osbourne, forth from the left is Nigel Slade, then Roger Taylor, front row from the left is John Babbage. Three to go keep trying, Clive you know the player far right at the back from the Billingshurst league. The other two are Littlehampton players one a former Sussex Champion, the other a former Littlehampton singles Champion.

Talking about the County championships, on that finals day a picture was taken of the winning team (with Reginald Bosenquet, remember him and he was very drunk with a nice piece of totty on either arm) who presented the trophies. I wondered if anybody has a copy of said picture as I never did see it!

He got to the final of the Sussex singles and was beaten by a good friend of mine Nigel Slade (deceased) with Nigel not dropping a game in the competition (is that a record ?) when there were many more entrants than today, played on neutral tables. John returned to the Sussex final the year after and won, also winning the doubles with Tony Owen in the same year.

Hi, I remember John very well (a great player, very fast for his era), especially when winning the County All England finals at the British Aerospace Social Club, Byfleet, Surrey 5 - 2 against Berkshire, and not a split shot in sight by Sussex, on Sunday 22nd November - 1981!!! so I think John has lost a year somewhere!

Heard the sad news last night of the death of Bill Sensier at the young age of 56 of cancer on the 2nd Febuary. I played for many years with Bill at the Foresters and the Locomotive Littlehampton, I was also his doubles partner, winning the Littlehampton, he was many times singles champion, a great player. Condolenses to his wife Helen and daughters Katy and Hannah. He will be missed.
