With just two days to go (closing ceremony is 7pm on Sunday), time to start a list of Team GB heroes. Hopefully there is still a trickle to come. At the end we'll have a Poll where you can vote for your favourites out of a choice of 8. Why such a limited choice Clive??

Why such a limited choice Clive?? Agreed.....at the time I didn't realise we would have so many heroes. :o I'm thinking now of two separate polls (part A and B) each with a choice of 4 out of 8, then we can arrive at a list of our Top 8 moments of London 2012.

And its gold for anthony joshua in an absolute nail biter, talk about squeaky bum time! Still got nothing on billiards for nervous moments :p Anthony Joshua is tipped for a successful career as a Pro.....better application and commitment than the disappointing Audley Harrison. im going to miss commenting on the olympics :( we must start a premier league thread! Now you disappoint me ! Don't mind discussing good honest football as at level of Oxford Utd or Kettering Town, or the future of poor old Pompey, but Premier ? Foregone conclusion these days, just a case of whichever club has the most money to spend. Only interest for me is seeing which clubs can avoid relegation. Come on Reading ! ;D

So, what do we have to look forward to supporting on the last day ? Mhairi Spence (Scotswoman) in the modern pentathlon (6pm start) Samantha Murray won modern pentathlon silver for Great Britain in the final event of the London 2012 Olympic Games. The 22-year-old world bronze medallist started the run-shoot finale eight seconds off the pace, but caught up to finish a superb second. Lithuania's Laura Asadauskaite won as GB's Mhairi Spence, the world champion, finished 21st. Final medal table: Gold Silver Bronze Total 1 United States 46 29 29 104 2 China 38 27 22 87 3 Great Britain 29 17 19 65 4 Russia 24 25 33 82 5 Korea 13 8 7 28 6 Germany 11 19 14 44 7 France 11 11 12 34 8 Italy 8 9 11 28 9 Hungary 8 4 5 17 10 Australia 7 16 12 35
It's been a fantastic London 2012 Olympics, one I'll never forget, and I hope you enjoyed tommo's running commentary, ably assisted by Big Phil McFarland. My armchair is nearly worn out and I might even be motivated to get that mountain bike out of the shed which has seen too little action in the last three years! ::) There are two separate Polls where if you feel that way inclined you can vote for your best moments - there have been so many. tommo

Everything about these games was top drawer.....A triumph in organisation, and Team GB's athletes rising to the occasion.
And the TV coverage by the BBC was superb. Worth paying the licence fee (never thought I'd ever say that !)
The spirit of sportsmanship prevailed throughout. 8-)
A massive lift to the nation in these troubled times. 8-)
Now back to normality.....

May I congratulate Tommo & Bigphil on their brilliant reporting on the London Olympics for the past two weeks. 8-)
It was always good to know the results before I had a chance to see them for myself !! ??? ;)
Not that I wanted to see some sports anyway, like wrestling, boxing, trycando, hokey pokey, handball, basketball, waterpolo, fencing, judo, tennis, badminton, boxing, football & others.
Though I did enjoy the rest of the Olympics !
...and I've still yet to see the lighting and turning out of the Olympic flame because my recordings ended early! :(

Thanks Milko, We tried not to miss anything, and there are Polls where you can vote for your favourites. Everyone so far has voted for Mo Farah as the star of the show.
Looking back now I think I've been a little harsh by excluding a nod for some of our unsung heroes who 'only' made bronze: Tom Daley in the diving, Beth Tweddle in the gymnastics, Robert Grabarz in the high jump, and Becky Adlington - double bronze in the swimming.
With many new events being included, I now intend to brush up on my Sudoko, ludo, chinese chequers, tiddlywinks and scrabble in the hope of making the 'indoor pentathlon' for Rio 2016. ;D

One of my favourite moments was seeing Katherine Grainger winning the gold medal in the rowing with her partner Anna Watkins after picking up silver medals at the last THREE Olympics. 8-)

Only 2 years to wait until the Winter Olympics! In Sochi, Russia!
Not usually something we do well in, bit surprising considering how much "winter" we have compared to "summer" !!
They do have one of the best sports ever in Ice Hockey though ;D

Well our Peoples Favourite is Mo Farah, everyone who cast a vote voted for him.
Mo is set to be a TV celebrity and a rich man - deservedly so - although I find it rather tacky the way he has been latched onto and courted immediately by both Richard Branson and Simon Cowell.
Hardly the Olympian spirit and I hope it doesn't remove Mo's edge. I can remember Steve Ovett breaking down in tears after Moscow 1980 because someone had offered him money to race. :o :o
Mo is set to run the London Marathon and his sponsorship is said to be £1 million. How times change !

Have been watching a bit of the 2012 Paralympics but my apologies for the lack of coverage when compared to that on the main event. Too upsetting sometimes seeing the competitors' disabilites.
I have nonetheless been impressed with our cyclists, rowers and swimmers. Best moment so far: cyclist Jody Cundy's outburst after being unfairly disqualified, and then coming back to take a bronze medal in the pursuit.
I'll maybe give a list of medal winners at the end. 8-)

Missed the closing ceremony last night with Coldplay and Rihanna - will have to catch up on sometime. But caught some of the victory parade, culminating in the gathering by the Victoria Statue outside Buck House. Helen Skelton's red dress did a 'Marilyn Monroe' - expect to see it in the papers tomorrow. ;D Stirring speech from Boris. www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-2201132/Its-Blew-Peter-The-moment-gust-wind-lifts-skirt-presenter-Helen-Skelton-Games-parade.htmlStars of the paralympics, please feel free to add to the list: 1. David Weir - four golds at Wheelchair racing, equals Dame Tanni Grey-Thompson' four golds at both Barcelona and Sydney, but the first male to do it. His tally is now ten Paraympic medals, including two golds from Beijing. 2. Ellie Simmonds - our 17-y-o 4'1" Princess of the Pool won silver and bronze to add to her two Beijing golds. 3. Jonnie Peacock - gold medal, 100m T43/44. 4. Stef Reid - silver medal, F44 long jump. 5. Hannah Cockcroft - gold medal, 200m T34 wheelchair. 6. Sarah Storey, OBE - 4 golds at cycling. Incredible lady, was winning golds 20 years ago at Barcelona for - swimming ! All in all, Team GB won an incredible 120 medals - beaten only by China, and 34 of these were gold. Foreign star of the Games for me ? Once again blade-runner Oscar Pistorius (S.A.) for his gold in the final athletics event (400m T44).
