Good business then to get in when you did. It's following the same pattern as what happened with the Northern Rubber when that nearly doubled in price. I'm grabbing some more in the morning before they change their mind. That will see me OK for a few years, as long as I am likely to be covering my tables anyway.

Final order at the old price is on its way.
I do not plan on doing any more bulk orders as I can no longer save people money.
Good whilst it lasted!
If anyone wants any more after the New year they can go direct to Hainsworth, seven metres of Match gives six sets but it will likely work out at a minimum of £62½ a set.

If it helps anyone with future ordering, this is how I split up a six seven metres on a roll of cloth. You actually get 13 side cushions out of a width. Remember you may not always recover the cushions so orders may be tailored. Lose one bed and have half the number of side and end cushions from five metres It's easy to snick the cloth at the right points and rip it across, just rather causes anal palpitations the first time you do it

But another point is that your drawing and text relates to a 6 mtr length = 236.25 inches but 61.5 inches x 3 + 72 + 18 = 274.5 inches Should it be a 7 mtr length ? Or is it me that cant see the ' cloth for the trees ' !!!! It may also be worth pointing out that this is OK for a JELKS table but a longer length will be required for SAMS table or a combination of the two . The SAMS being a longer slate with relatively longer cushion rails. I also hear that you have a special challenge coming up ............Playing on Taffys special table using his super skittles etc etc , good luck there ! Alan

Your turn to catch me out! yes I'm at sixes and sevens! Should read seven metres off the roll to get six sets
Standard Sams slates are the same as Jelks, it's normally only narrow Sams that are longer but narrower.
Yes I'm going past Soham on Tuesday weather permitting but will not have much time.

Did the first run to North Norfolk to deliver the folding caravan today, had paid for Xmas dinner on the North Norfolk Railway. Had to give that up at Stanstead and spend three hours in the services waiting for the snow to stop!

You did really well to get your last delivery at the £30 mtr , they explained to me that price was given in error but they honoured it as a long standing customer from 2012 So congratulations to all who got cloth at that price recently. i can confirm exactly what you said , that the price would now be £40 mtr but on January 1st 2018 there would be a price rise of cloth and p&p . So i just ordered 7.5 mtrs before it goes up . (Delivery is at the moment £18)
I have now opened an ongoing account with Hainswoth , unfortunately , living were i live (South Cheshire) i cannot offer the same service to other members as your good self , as all would have to be repackaged and sent by carrier. But from time to time when i need to bulk order some for myself i will put a notice on this site advising what is available and cost of forwarding.
As you have said that is a massive price rise , but still cheaper than others available and also a it is know that the quality is good . I have in the past purchased cheap cloth but it is only suitable to re-line ball returns ! Certain Chinese made cloth is now supposed to be very good (used on tables at some top snooker competitions) but the quantities they want you to buy is extremely high and its also difficult to know which suppliers are good and which aren't . At least with British made you know what you are getting . Same applies to cushion rubber , although i suspect that some suppliers in the UK are being supplied by overseas makers !
And to cap it all today , my new electric stapler decided to fail after less than 2 hours work since new ! Typical , payed 5 times the cost of my old 'cheapo' one (which lasted over 4 years)
At least the snows gone !!!

The £30 piece was what I negotiated with Adam Hainsworth himself five years ago to supply the AEBBA competition tables with Hainsworth Match, when I recovered and refurbished the lot that summer. This was in lieu of any sponsorship. The tables had been covered in Strachan 6810 Tournament Gold (a.k.a. West of England) which I do not think was as good. I simply milked the deal for the benefit of others. but never intended any profit out of it myself, in fact the early sets cost me as I forgot the VAT in calculating the price. It was good whilst it lasted.

It was good whilst it lasted. Just to clarify Hainsworth were not saying that the price was a mistake originally but that it was their error to continue to hold the price and did so because of you past business . As per their reply :- Many thanks for your reply, unfortunately not I did have a conversation with Mike at the time that this price was incorrect but honoured it for that order only. The price is £40.00 per metre with an increase from January 1st. The only way we can reduce the price is by purchasing non conformance which is a slight seconded cloth – but unfortunately we do not have any non conformance at the moment. Really sorry I couldn’t help you with the price, I did have to run Chris’ last order via the Director who said this was the last order at that price as it had been a price from 2012 I believe. Please let me know if you need any further help. As i mentioned earlier , when i need to bulk purchase some more cloth , i will put a note on here and anyone is welcome to add to the order , the only additional cost being the forwarding p&p Happy Days

Price at the start of 2012 should have been £38.50 (plus VAT) a metre, so getting it at £30 a metre was a pretty good deal as I have done over a dozen bulk orders for people since then.
I have checked the price prior to ordering every time so if they have made a mistake they have done it a lot of times and four times this year!
Match has only gone up £1.50 in the meantime, so they were not losing much since the original deal.
Interesting that they also cocked up the price of the Northern Rubber for the first couple of orders when I originally bought it, basing the price on half the quantity in a packet.
Good luck Alan but it sounds like £40 (plus price rise) is open to anyone to group on a bulk order.

Yes you are right its open to anyone , but as you must already know , most people cant be bothered and rely on others to do things for them !!
From what i have read on here much the same happens with competitions , table delivery and collection !
I think you will find that this is common in lots of clubs , groups and affiliations what ever the activity.
Some just want to turn up play and go !!
it will never change.
It is irrelevant to me , as i need to buy anyway so even odd numbers are not a problem .
Strachan are sending me some samples in the new year , and used snooker tournament cloth is ideal for ball return return runs , costs around £40 for a full size snooker table , just wash the chalk out of it on a low heat slow wash . Most tournament cloths have seen most action at the black ball end of table
Good Tip There
