Thought this may be more fitting for the Crown plus with the candlesticks either side should provide enough warning in the dark ;)

Given the match result, I recall quite a few words beginning with 'B' mentioned. Similar words cropping up in Alfold I guess.... ;D Absolutely, words like blooming and blimey, but no mention of :-X

Alfold SC 1 The Railway 4
Sorry was too busy to write a report and too many beers at the end to remember to write down the scores.
The score line does not reflect the closeness of all the games. One player shone out and that was Robin (Alfold) who hit a 6K break followed by another 2K.
Both sets of players played well with at least 3 of the games being 10K plus.
A really great social night, the Railway had supporters too.
Cheers to all
What 'B' word might that be ??? Billiards, Break, Balls. I imagine it must of been really hard not to refer to these words at least once in the match ;D

Firstly for those referring to the bench incident ;D ;D ;D, its going to go down in Billiard folklore.
OK serious stuff now the Match Report from Three Bees versus Alfold Club
Game 1 The 'Minor' for Alfold versus Ron. Minor first visit not that fruitful allowing Ron to step in with a useful 1K. After that it was pretty much a game of pushing balls around the table with both players struggling to win the break back. Ron's earlier 1K was enough to take the game.
Three Bees 1 Alfold Club 0
Next up Trevor versus Dave. Trevor missed the break completely allowing Dave the opportunity to take advantage, but could not get going. The table got very messy with all the balls at the bottom. Trevor did manage to scramble 600 points with some determined play, before knocking the white peg down :-[. After that neither player made much impact and the bar dropped to give the game to Dave.
Three Bees 2 Alfold Club 0
Third up Garry ' I've got a pint in' versus Steve. Another game starting slowly with Gaz missing the break first up. Steve accumulated points on the board to the frustration of his opponent. Gaz then managed to string together a series of small breaks to edge into the lead with the bar dropping. Steve needing the 200 hole to win the game took out the black peg in the process.
Three Bees 2 Alfold 1
Up next Robin versus John. Rob struggled with the break allowing John to put points on the board. Rob continued to struggle with the table and John took control with a break of 2.5K (highest of night) to clinch the game.
Three Bees 3 Alfold Club 1
Final game saw the 'Major' versus Linda. Major started with a modest break, leaving Linda the opportunity to push in front. Both players kept chipping away putting points on the board, but neither got the measure of the break. This was a close match, but Major held on to take the victory.
Three Bees 3 Alfold Club 2
R Child 2050 C Greening 1660 D Tonsett 1300 T Goacher 970 S Eely B/P G Fishburn 3150 J Tudhope 4620 R Burgess (did not write his score down ???) L Lennon 2410 M Greening 2960
The table did not play well, recently reset, but frankly not appreciated by the home team.
Good evening, pleasant company and great sandwiches and chips.
Cheers to all

Alfold SC versus The Blue Ship
Robin V Ding - Ding broke with a modest score leaving the 2 balls up around the 50 holes. Rob got the break back to knock in a useful 1.5K. Ding responded with a 1K to bring game level. Rob then nipped in with over 1K and with no response from Ding he then rattled in a match winning 3K
Alfold 1 The Blue Ship 0
Trevor V Mick - Mick started with a handy 3K, Trevor won the break back and hit over 1K before fluffing an easy shot. Game was then about pushing balls around the table until Mick hit 2.5K to finish the game off.
Alfold 1 The Blue Ship 1
The Minor V Alan - Alan started of confidently with the break, so much so he potted 4 times to give the break to The Minor. Sadly Minor seemed to have lost his strength leaving the 2 balls invitingly by the 50 holes. Alan hit a good 1K before Minor responded with nearly 2K. Alan got his head down to rattle in a decent 2.5K and then both players scored modestly, with the Bar dropping for a Blue Ship win.
Alfold 1 The Blue Ship 2
The Major V Colin - Colin broke with a useful 1K, leaving the Major to push the balls around a bit. Colin increased his score with a further 1.5K before the Major got his head down to rattle in a 2K break. The table then got tied up with the balls at the bottom end giving neither player much opportunity. Colin then played a once in a life time shot to pot 3 balls to win the break back (30, 10 and 100 holes ::)), but the bar dropped leaving him neither the time or the balls to beat the Major
Alfold 2 The Blue Ship 2
Garry V Steve - the last game was well poised as a classic with both players able to play a bit. Steve hit almost 3K with his first visit letting Gaz on to hit a reasonable 2K. The table then got a bit messy and amongst it all Steve seemed to have the billiard god on his side by emerging out of the mess with nearly a 2K break. I think it would be fair to say that Steve acknowledged he may have had a bit of luck, but nether the less a decent game and win for the Blue Ship
Alfold 2 The Blue Ship 3
R Burgess 6560 D Johnson 2580 T Goacher 1560 M Johnson 5960 C Greening 3400 A Maylee 5770 M Greening 3410 C Cathie 2960 G Fishburn 2580 S Holden 4820
As ever a nice evening amongst friends, all games played very sportingly and advice, encouragement and banter was shared by all.
Great food, cheers to the Minor for sorting it out.

Southwater B versus Alfold Club
Apologies in advance, did not make notes and on return from a few days off going to do this from memory.
The result as I recall was 3 - 2 to Southwater club. Both set of players made a reasonable contribution, with one or two out shining the others.
It was a great evening and really appreciate the effort to pop down the road to get sausages and chips.
Southwater B are a great team and really good to see youth is on their side.
The table played far better than I have experienced in the past, giving both sets of players the opportunity to put points on the table.

Alfold SC v Limeburners Cricketers
Malcolm Greening v Bill Hammond
Bill found the break on the relatively new table a bit different to what he expected and was unable to put to many points on the table from his break. The Major was also having a little trouble getting going and for much of the game it was fairly untidy with neither player making an impact. Eventually the Major found some form and rattled in a useful 2K break to secure the point for Alfold
Alfold 1 Limeburners 0
Cliff Greening v Les Etheridge
Again another game similar to the first with neither player finding things particularly easy. Les was making things hard for the Minor, slowly putting points on the board. The Minor however, like his mentor before him, found late form to hit 2.6K at the death to claim the game.
Alfold 2 Limeburners 0
Trevor Goacher v Brian Goodchild
It was another one of those games, with both players hitting balls around the table and matching each other in the points department. Trevor eventually took the lead with a 1K break and was looking comfortable until Brian came back with a good 1K to level the score. With the bar down Brian need to pot 1 ball to put the game out of reach with only 2 balls left, however he missed the object ball, potted the other leaving Trevor a single shot into 100 pocket to claim the game ::) This was not the tidiest of games but quite exciting to the observer.
Alfold 3 Limeburners 0
Robin Burgess v Tony Cross
Again another game similar to the previous 3 with neither player making any impact. Tony had opportunities but lost quite a few points. Pretty much nip and tuck until Robin hit 3K to put the game out of Tony's reach
Alfold 4 Limeburners 0
Garry "I've got one in!" Fishburn v Chip Sawyer
Now this game had a classic written all over it and with Chip steaming out the blocks to hit an impressive 5K break we all thought we were in for a treat. Gaz came back with a good 2K response, but left the balls up in an inviting position for Chip to capitalise on his good start. No, sorry Chip was so confident he substituted himself for a look a like and we were back into an indifferent game. Gaz had opportunities to push on but only managed another 1K break before the bar saved us all.
Alfold 4 Limeburners 1
M Greening 3810 B Hammond 2390 C Greening 4460 L Etheridge 2510 T Goacher 2130 B Goodchild 2100 R Burgess 3900 T Cross 1130 G Fisburn 3350 R Sawyer 5650
( I apologise to any player if I have got your first name wrong, but relying on others to provide the info)
A good evening, with indifferent bar billiards. Neither team really shone and if the Limeburner lads had a little more of their usual form would have no doubt made the score line more respectful.
Not knocking the win for Alfold, they ground it out and well deserved.
Thanks to Robin for providing the grub, curry, bombay potatoes etc. Also a big thanks to Bill for his legendary pickled onions, they just get better.

D Farrell R Holden ( There is a Steve Holden who still plays Billingshurst I/L )
If it helps....
D Farrell is shown as playing 1 game in Division 2 during the 2001/02 Season, which he / she lost with a score of 970.
R Holden played twice in Division 3 during 2005/06 Season, had the break both times and won 1 game. Steve Holden played all 10 games that season, so I know that it cannot be him...... it could possibly be Rick Padfield though, he had played regularly the year before but didn't play (according to the records that I have) at all in 2005/06.... ???
R Holden may be Steve's partner/wife Roz, don't hold me to that but know his wife plays occasionally, just not 100% def on the first name.

The Stout House 'A' versus Alfold Club
First game saw Alfolds 'Minor' versus The 'A's Captain Fantastic, Gordon. Minor missed the break with his first attempt letting Gordon in with a modest break. Both players were struggling with balls at the bottom, a bit nip and tuck as both notched up 1.5K on the board before Gordon hit a useful 1.5K as the bar dropped to take the game
'A's 1 - Alfold 0
Next Up Gaz for Alfold against Barman Adam. Gaz did a most spectacular break putting the red in the 50 and white in the 100 hole ::) was this the sign of things to come. he then found the proper break only to leave both balls up with his next shot. Adam took full advantage of the home table and racked up a steady 2K before letting Gaz back in. Gaz responded a little better this time and hit 2K to level up the scores. Adam's next visit to the table saw him hit 1K to slip into the lead and with Gaz struggling to get the break back took the second game.
'A's 2 - Alfold 0
Third up Robin for Alfold against the experienced John Tidy. Rob broke with a useful 1.5K whilst John struggled to settle, letting Rob push up his score. John then found his form to put a helpful 1K on the board, but beaten by the bar did not have the time to capatialise on his new found form.
'A's 2 - Alfold 1
Next on was Trevor ::) (all will become clear) versus Peter. Trevor broke in almost the same fashion as Gaz with the 50 and 100 pockets, however this was all that could be said for the rest of his game. Peter sensing a lamb to the slaughter took the initiative and played a steady game increasing his lead. Though he allowed Trevor the opportunity to get back into the game, Trevor was more intent in finding the white peg (4 times, YES 4 times ::)) With a few minutes to go Trevor actually managed to put a reasonable score together only to be beaten by the bar (Why is it I just cant do it at the start of a game) Hey ho victory for Peter.
'A's 3 - Alfold 1
Final game saw the Major versus Jimbo. Major broke convincingly putting 1.5K on the board before Jim's first visit, which did not amount to much. Major added more points and kept Jim at arms length for a while, but in vain as Jim won the break back and rattled in a good score to almost draw the score level. Major kept his head though and on his next visit to the table hit a match winning 1K.
'A's 3 - Alfold 2
G. Carver 3110 C. Greening 1940 A. Kuzinski 4600 G. Fishburn 3120 J. Tidy 1910 R. Burgess 3200 P. Hartley 2570 T. Goacher 1700 J. Norman 2280 M. Greening 3120
Yet another defeat for the Alfold boys, while the 'A's look to take advantage and push up the league table.
A great night, with some good laughs, great people and excellant food. Thanks to the Stout House for a very pleasant evening.

Dun Horse home to Alfold Social Club. Dave Simmons 1690 Dave(?) Tilley 920 Before the game started, Major informed Dave that Scuba was laid up tonight so he’d grabbed Dave(or was it Doug?) Tilley to make the numbers up. “Don’t worry” he said, “He’s never played before, just thought I’d warn you.” Well thanks for that! It was Dave that played like the beginner not Mr. Tilley. Neither player got the break back, instead concentrating on lining the balls up in the middle of the table! :-/ Hi you are right dunplaying it was Dave and not Doug :) Glad to see he did his best and by the looks of it another rather disappointing night for Alfold :'(

Would not know Jim, did not get a lot of opportunity to play on it last week :( Still, at least you all showed us where the break is, cos we can never find it normally ::) So we should see some improvement in your scores then!! ;) I will be watching your reports eagerly ;D Cant' guarantee you will see much improvement in mine just yet, though I have every faith in the other chaps.

Alfold Club Versus Stout House Z's
OK, firstly sorry for delay in posting result etc., but been a bit busy, still its worth waiting for, isn't it Z's ;)
Game 1 saw the 2 captains against one another. Vernon broke............... and thats about it!! Head down, bottom up and a score of 15,570, without leaving the table. Nothing The Major could do other than stand back and admire with the rest of us.
0 -1 to the Z's
Next game saw Richard from the Z's up against Garry. Rich struggled with the break at first allowing Garry to knock in 2.5k before pegging out. Richard then took control and though Garry had opportunities to get the break back could not get into his rhythm.
0 -2 to the Z's
Third up was Andy versus Trevor (for about the blooming 4th time in a row ???) Andy broke unconvincingly to allow Trevor to the table to hit a modest break, before Andy took control and it was another case of table watching for the Alfold player. 10k plus for Mr Finn was certainly enough to clinch the game.
0 - 3 to the Z's
Up next for the Z's was John against Cliff (The Minor). John started slowly allowing Minor to put some points on the board. Neither player played to their potential and it was very much nip and tuck before John squeezed ahead before letting Minor back in as the bar dropped, not allowing enough time (or points) to make a difference. The closest game of the evening.
0 - 4 to the Z's
Final game saw the in form Big (Jim) Silver Fox against Robin. Jim did not get the best start leaving the balls up after scoring low from the break. Robin did not take the opportunity to capatilise on this and only managed a modest break, before Jim stepped up and it was another case of the Alfold player being a spectator as he rattled in 14.5k to put the result beyond doubt. (not that the previous 4 results hadn't ::))
M Greening 0 V Sparks 15,570 G Fishburn 1,460 R Plaw 3,150 T Goacher 1,450 A Finn 10,840 C Greening 3,640 J Miller 4,560 R Burgess 480 J Greensted 14,970
Yet again a great night, with plenty of banter and laughs. Well Done the Z's.
Cheers to Malcolm for the Food ( and Rob for Bombay Spuds) - all very yummy.

Roffey Club V Alfold Club
The away team arrived a player down, but not short of cheek. A warm welcome from the Roffey lads is always guaranteed to get the night off to a good start.
First up Pete v Robin. Rob started quite well knocking up a 1K break. Pete's first visit to the table saw him take down the white peg with the red ball so a 30p fine (was going to be an expensive night). Rob kept chipping away building up a lead, while Pete struggled to get going, that was until a few minutes to go when he hit 3K as the bar dropped. He calculated what he needed, but unfortunately not correctly as he left himself 200 short. first blood to Alfold
L Cable (Sorry cant remember first name ::)) V Garry. Gaz started of steadily and put a few points on the table. Mr Cable really was not getting the rub of the green and could not get going. Gaz plodding on building up a reasonable lead. The frustration was beginning to show on poor Mr Cable who near the end of the match plowed through the black peg, killing the game off. Alfold winners again!!!!!!
Third game saw Dave take on the rookie Trevor who managed to find the break to put a few points on the board. Dave's first visit to the table was not very fruitful and Trevor was able to add some more much needed points. The table got messy at the back of the 50 hole on the left, meaning both players could not score many points, until Dave eventually got the break to push into the lead. A scrappy game, one Dave thought was awful, but the rookie took some heart from, even though he lost. 1 - 2 to Alfold.
Fourth and final game saw the two experienced player from both teams head to head. Mick V Malcolm (The Major). Major started quite well hitting just over 1K, Mick who had one eye on the Liverpool game on TV, did not focus and allowed Major back on the table without scoring a point. Major built a good 4K lead and played a tactical game leaving difficult shots for Mick, who continued to fail to get the break back. Then it was over (Thats the football), with 5 minutes of table time left Mick got his head down and rattled in as cool 5K to snatch the game from Major :(. 2 -2
As no fifth player Roffey claimed the final game to win 3 - 2.
As a gesture of good will Trevor offered Twiggy a game and in the process emptied his pocket of change as he pegged out twice. Adding to the Roffey fine pot has ensured a beer at finals night (is'nt that right lads ;))
P Fish 3670 R Burgess 3980 L Cable 0000 G Fishburn 3930 D Cable 2890 T Goacher 1890 M Faire 5000 M Greening 4250 Twiggy - Walk over
A smashing night and thanks to all the Roffey Team for being so hospitable. Great sandwiches and nibbles and the beer weren't half too bad too.

Alfold SC V The Crown
Well as many readers may know the Crown team are the old Alfold SC 'A' so much was at stake ;)
First up Alfold Captain 'The Major' against John who started steadily. The Major had a couple of visits but could not get the break back and with both players nibbling away John just stayed in front. The Major then got his head down to score a reasonable amount and with the ball planted centre table between 100 & 200 hole had a difficult shot, which he missed and lost his score. John held on to win the game.
Alfold 0 The Crown 1
Next up saw Alfolds Trevor versus Barney who struggled at first with the break, letting Trevor take a modest lead without getting the break back. Barney then hit a good 2.5K and followed by another 1K plus easily took the game.
Alfold 0 The Crown 2
Third up was 'The Minor' against Hugh. It was a slow start for both players before Hugh hit 2.5K to get in front and though Minor did win the break back it was too late as the bar had dropped.
Alfold 0 The Crown 3
Up next for Alfold was Garry taking on the experinced Dave. Dave missed the break on his first visit allowing Garry to hit 3.5K. Dave came back with a useful 2.5K and though Garry who had been playing well had the opportunity to build on his lead, missed the break letting Dave back on to get 3K. Unfortunately for Garry there was no time left to claw some points back, so another victory for The Crown
Alfold 0 The Crown 4
Final game saw Robin against Ricky who started off with a good 2.5K. Robin won the break back to hit 1.5K but then missed the split allowing Ricky to build on his lead with a 3K break. Robin did get the table back and hit a useful 1.5K before the bar put a stop to his advances.
Alfold 0 The Crown 5
:( :( :( ::)
M Greening 2630 J Thayre 3710 T Goacher 820 P Barnett 6530 C Greening 1820 H Fowler 4250 G Fisburn 3940 D Sands 5560 R Burgess 3290 R Padfield 6130
Congratulations to the Crown lads who all played well though to be fair Alfold just were not on form. The winners were presented with a trophy in the form of (well wont mention what but I believe a picture of it has been distrubuted to all teams in the league ;)). Thanks to Mark from the Railway for making and providing the trophy, which we intend to play for whenever the two teams meet.
A good night with a bit of banter and the Crown must be commended for being modest in their Victory (well they were when there, but sure to have celebrated with joy after they left)
Sadly this result will push Alfold back down the table, still there is another half of a season to go.
Thanks to Malcolm for the food, it was yummy (and no EGG Sandwiches :D)
Happy Christmas to all

Railway Versus Alfold SC
First game saw Railways Nigel against Garry who was unable to find break allowing Nigel to rattle in a good break of 3K taking a convincing lead. Garry found break only to peg out with 2.5k. There after Nigel took command to notch up the first game.
1-0 to Railway
Next up Mike versus the Major who took a modest lead with his first visit. Mike got the break back to score 1.5k only to let the Major back in to knock in 2.5k. Mike found it difficult to get break back with most the balls on the table leaving it too late to make any impact.
1-1
Third up Mick against the Minor who did not find the break and after a slow start Mick hit a good 2.5k break and then lost another 1.5k on his next visit. A bit of a scrappy affair for a bit until Minor won the break back and with a good break left himself a shot on the 200 pocket to win the game with all other balls gone. Unfortunately he missed his first go and even though Mick missed his shot Minor could not get the much needed 200 leaving Mick to secure the game.
2-1 to Railway
Mark was next versus Trevor and after Trevor missed the first break with a slow shot (got hand caught in shirt!!! Honest ::)), Mark stepped up to hit 1.5k. Neither player really made an impact, but Mark kept plugging away to move away into the lead. Though Trevor made every effort to get going he left it too late only winning back the break after the bar and with one ball left.
3-1 to Railway
Final game was Steve versus Robin who started with a reasonable break. Steve's first visit saw him out of sorts plowing straight through the white peg. This was not the best either player has played and with neither making any ground the lead was swinging from one player to another. Eventually Robin edged in front as the bar dropped, but Steve held his composure to win the game by doubling the red from the bottom cushion into the 100 hole.
4 - 1 to Railway
N Worsfold 6420 G Fishburn 560 M Cork 2600 M Greening 5990 M Clack 2630 C Greening 2420 M Davies 3840 T Goacher 1630 S Marriott 1830 R Burgess 1720
A good night with great company, plenty on banter and decent grub.
Cheers to the Railway

Alfold SC versus Three Bees
Linda started well for the Bees with a solid 2.5k break. Minor made slow progress before pegging out on the black :-X. From there it was a slow game that saw Linda triumph. 0-1 to Three Bees
Second game saw the experienced Ron from the Bees up against the almost novice Trevor. Ron took some time to get going and Trevor was in an indifferent form. Ron's experience eventually kicked in and he took the game with a steady score. Oh and Trevor pegged out 5 Times!!!!! ::) (that will teach me for boasting last week I had not hit a peg for 2 weeks :-[) 0-2 to Three Bees
Up third saw Steve versus Garry with both players starting slowly. Steve eventually knocked in a break of 1.5k to take a lead before Garry hit back with a 4k break to edge in front. However, Steve won the break back and rattled in 1.5k as the bar dropped to edge Garry out of the game. 0-3 to Three Bees
Dave was up next for the Three Bees and he started brightly with a 2.5k break. Robin struggled to get points on the table and with Steve stepping in with a 4.5k break had too much to do with little table time. 0-4 to Three Bees
(you getting the picture yet ::))
Last game saw John for the Three Bees agaist Alfold Skipper, the MAJOR. John Struggled to find the break allowing Major to get 2K points on the board. John came back with a good score before Major added another 2k to his score. However, John fought back valiantly only to be beaten by the bar. 1-4 to Three Bees
Alfold SC Three Bees Cliff Greening 1360 Linda Lennon 4030 Trevor Goacher 600 Ron Child 3950 Garry Fishburn 4500 Steve Eely 5750 Robin Burgess 890 Dave Tomsett 7530 Malcolm Greening 4800 John Tudhope 3160
A nice evening and the Three Bees brought a lovely crowd with them. Food by Cliff, thank you.

The Blue Ship V Alfold SC
First up Trevor versus Mick with both players struggling, eventually Trevor sneaked in front , with the table full of balls. Following a period of nip 'n' tuck Mick got the break back to knock up 1k to take the lead as the bar dropped giving Trevor no chance to recoup the points, (but hey I havn't knocked the peg down for 2 weeks in a row!! :D)
Mick Johnson 2430 Trevor Goacher 1290
Next up it was Clifford ('Minor') against Steve, with 'Minor' starting confidently, but a slip up left 2 balls around the 50 pockets. Steve racked up a good 1k before pegging out, however 'Minor' could not capitalise, though steve not having the best game of his life, knocked down the peg on two more occaisions giving the victory to Alfold.
Steve Holden 720 Cliff Greening 1720
3rd up saw Garry for Alfold starting slowly edging in front with Colin fighting back to draw level (even with a peg down). However, Garry hit a good break of 2.5k to put the game out of reach.
Colin Cahie 1430 Garry Fishburn 4080
The 4th game saw an excellant affair between Malcolm ('Major') and Alan. 'Major' started off well with a good break of 1.9k, wth Alan coming back well only to knock down the peg. 'Major' increased his lead before Alan hit back with a good break to put some pressure on. Both players then scored modestly before Alan hit a good score, just as the bar went to seal victory for the Blue ship.
Alan Maybee 4410 Malcolm Greening 3610
So it was into the final game with both teams looking to win it to claim the victory. The draw saw Robin versus Ding and a very nervous Robin just could not settle whilst Ding could not win the break back. Ding eventually edged in front, before Robin hit a very useful 900. With the bar dropping it was all to play for with the eventual winner Robin downing the ball in the 100 hole to secure a very very narrow victory.
Ding Johnson 1870 Robin Burgess 1880 ::)
Final Score Blue Ship 2 - Alfold SC 3
A very good evening and though both teams struggled it was a most enjoyable. Thanks to the Blue Ship players for a smashing night and to the staff for looking after us so well. Great Rolls mmmm

Alfold SC V Stout House 'A'
Alfold SC 4.5 Stout House 'A' 0.5
1st Round Cup
Fisrtly apologies no scores as a bit jaded after a jolly day out! ::)
However, I can recall the result and the order Alfold played in,
Garry Fishburn and opponent drew the game ( Only 2nd time I have seen this)
Major Minor won the Second
Trevor won the third 8-) (yes I actually one a game, though opponent Adam was not at his best, thankfully)
Major took the fourth frame
and Robin secured a convincing win with the fifth.
A great night, plently of Banter and thank you to The Blue Ship, for providing sandwiches.

I have separated off the more important posts into their weeks but you don't have to follow my style of 'subject heading' when you start new threads in future, maybe look at what other members do in other leagues and then choose one you like 8-) Hi Reckon your guidance is good enough and Billingshurst set up is now easier to follow. Thanks

Alfold SSC home to Southwater 'B' 11th November 2009
Up First for Southwater was T. Darkins against the experienced Malcolm 'The Major' Greening. T. Darkins could not quite master the break giving The Major the opportunity to get on the table with a 1.5k break, following his second visit this was further increased by another 1.5k break, though T. Darkins was unlucky to lose the break. Unfortunately by the time the bar went the damage had been done with the first point to Alfold.
Next up G. Rayne versus T. Goacher. Geoff started with a very solid break of 4.5k before Trevor got to the table. Having rattled in a few hundred to set himself up to win back the break, Trevor (as usual) :-[ took out the white peg. Geoff never really looked back with any concern and with another good break of 2k put the game out of reach, especially as Trevor took out the white peg again! :-[. Geoff played well and was a worthy winner.
Third game saw M Senior matched with Garry Fishburn. M. Senior struggled with the break allowing Garry in to knock in a 2k break. Though M Senior valiantly tried to win the break back, Garry steadied himself with a 4k break to win the game for Alfold.
W.Holloway up next versus, Alfold's R Burgess. A slow start from both players saw an untidy game, before Robin rattled in 1k near the end to secure the victory for Alfold.
Final game saw G. Purkiss for Southwater against Clifford 'The Minor Major'. A good steady start from G Purkiss saw 1k go up o the board, more than matched by the 2k response from Minor Major. C. Purkiss next visit to the table provided him the opportunity to get 2.5k to edge into the lead and after minor flourishes from both players saw him come out eventual winner.

A good night of billiards with some real skill shown by Geoff Rayne, and Garry Fishburn
Thanks to all
