Dolphin v Swan could not be played due to Nobby Clark playing. Trying to arrange another night/week for the game, not sure if it causes any problems/conflictions but possibly 16th September?

Swan 4 - 1 Dolphin
C.Oakley 3660 - 1640 P.Hickman L.Hickman 3550 - 650 D.Hickman J.Whittle 4290 - 3370 G.Iles J.Whittle/L.Hickman - BP (3160) - 3560 D.Hickman/G.Iles C.Oakley/B.Kirkpatrick 1310 - 880 A.Iles/J.Hickman
Family battle here. Chris saw my dad (Pete) off with complaints all round about a very whippy table. I made it 2-0, showing my older brother Damo how it's done! James had a set of lovely breaks to see Gazza peak out 1k shy. An attempt to make it 4-0 after some good play from Damo and Gaz saw the BP fall after an attempt with the red ball to make it all square. Chris and Bex stuggled to keep any breaks and once again, some strong play by Bex on her second ever game scoring about the same as Chris did, so very well done to her!
Our return leg was supposed to have been on 26th August, but I'm aware of a Nobby Clark game on the Dolphin table that night, so the game will have to be postponed until further notice.

Well if its going to cause that much upset then obviously we'll look into it further, it wasn't set in stone, but obviously we assumed it would be fine. We haven't dismissed the option to play out of multiple venues each game. Some of us just don't like the way we're being pushed into venues we simply don't want to play from, and we're not happy either - being told rather than asked or suggested to.
Being branded as playing as Worthing D team and playing out of a 'Brighton' table and going out to Southwick/Portslade is the same as going the other way to Ferring/Angmering to the Henty, which is leaning more towards a 'Littlehampton' table.
We understand that other venues need to be used to keep them in the league, but no-one is playing from the Dolphin or WTC in the inter-league now so they're not really missing out. The wrong attitude to have, granted, but its still a fact.
Saying that we aren't 'Home' players from here isn't quite true as over half the team are currently playing here in the Brighton summer league, and will play out of here for the Worthing and Brighton winter leagues. We want to keep this venue happy also. We arranged to get the Gardeners table in there for a reason and we intend to use it.
We have our match tonight and I hope we can come to an agreement that keeps everyone happy. I'm proposing a multi-venue team to keep the peace as this is far too much politics for me, we're supposed to be enjoying it.

Wow, one more game each and we'll be level :D
Should be a good game to decide our final position, glad the last one's a home match, hope to keep the unbeaten record there!

That is stupid, as it gives the 'plate' teams no chance.
Team A plays and beats Team B, Team B go into the plate. Team A get knocked out next round and return to the plate and theoretically could then play Team B again and beat them.. again. If that happened to be the final I'd be cheesed off.

Thats great news, it does make sense to play out of a venue that we're all familiar with. We are based there for the Brighton and Worthing Winter leagues next year as well as just the Brighton Summer league this year, so I can't think of a better place.
Although I'd rather not be master of that table and jack of the rest, hence why I was trying to suggest other venues to give us a season's experience on a new table.
Its a great venue, we're good friends with the lanlord, and it accomodates well - especially for minimum 14 players in the inter-league, with our exclusive half of the pub ;)
Might be wise to get hold of your number TJ, as wouldn't want to clash nights in the future, plus need to let you know about the friendly.

Sad to see it go, but based on this I understand you're intending to play out of the Gardeners for the inter-league? :-/ This is our base for the Worthing D team so isn't it a problem with 2 teams playing from there? If so couldn't the Henty be an option? :)

Atlas 2 - 3 Gardeners
M.Pope 1970 - 8050 D.Hickman S.Hurley 4650 - 4910 P.Hickman S.Wood 4350 - 3940 C.Oakley M.Adatepe 3580 - 6620 C.Cox K.Hurley 1640 - 760 L.Hickman
Another great night of evenly matched games. Damo used his 4.5k handicap and turned into 8, leaving Mick on 1970 after struggling with his home table's 'quirkiness'. Pete and Steve had a good battle, with Steve missing his chance to win on the last ball 200 shot, leaving a calm and collective 100 shot to finish from Pete. Sheena and Chris O had a good battle with Chris O leading from the off dispite not doing a lot off the break. Sheena eventually got the better of Chris after a series of no scores and pegs! Chris C was next up to face the landard giving away 3500, so although he played well, was not able to catch Chris' 6k. After a miserable start on the break, I was feeling confident with my oponenet black pegging it twice and losing her handicap, this was until a bobble off the D caused me to black peg near the end with no time to claw back what was needed of me! (Sorry guys!)
Great game once again, with handicaps not winning here and a lot of players winning off of scratch. Excellent play from Damo, an 8k game (3.5k off scratch) game in his first season. Keep it up

Sparky,
Thanks for all the info, very kind of you indeed. Not that I'm a tight b****d, but I do expect to pay what they have advertised plus they say they do discounts for 10+ rooms :-/ even though the rates we are getting are the same us the general public.
RE The itinerary; that's perfect, just needed a rough idea!
Now trying to figure out a way of bringing my 3/4 cue with me without incurring sports equip. charges :o

Gardeners 5 - 0 Montreal
Scores ** H/C Rec.
P.Hickman 3800 - 1220 M.Barsby ** 610/260 C.Cox 4250 - BP(3570) T.Hocking ** 101/1770 C.Oakley 3990 - 430 S.Burns ** 1530/460 L.Hickman 5990 - 4890 D.Robins ** 1310/1590 J.Osborne 5210 - 1840 B.Mechan ** 1930/730
The table has got trickier once again :-/, not quite sure who's fiddled with it this time ::), but it became a test of patience rather than skill.
Pete setting us up for an early 1-0 lead with the luck going his way and leaving none for his rival. This was swiftly followed by Chris C making it 2-0 in an even game despite not finding the break but still it became last ball 200 shot practice for his opponent, paying the price of a black peg to finish. Chris O making it 3-0 before grub after some unlucky play from both sides. I made it 4-0 but once again couldn't quite find the break despite getting it back 5 or 6 times! James sealed the whitewash and played through the pain of a neck injury, so thanks for still playing! Also thanks to Chris Cox for filling in last minute for Damo's absence.
Well done to the Mont, a good night of BB! ;D

Yep, was a cracking day. 8-)
Was a pleasure to score the U25's final ;).
Very tense, edge of your seat nailbiting going on!
Good breaks by Martin of 3.5k and 4.5k in the first leg leaving little time for Lewis to come back, but Lewis' broke off in the 2nd leg with 9570, putting him 1300 clear of Martin, but Martin had enough time to edge back in front with a final 2.5k break despite having troubles with the right hand 50 pocket!
Very well played by both Lewis and Martin, shame Martin got the best of me in the Semi's :(, I was quite looking forward to a debut final! Best men ended up in the final though, well played to everyone. ;)
We'll try to turn up a little bit earlier next time, even though we were told by a certain 'sir' we all know that it was a 12:00 start ::)

Hi guys,
I know there is a little confusion amongst a few players/teams that are not too sure about our Gardeners pub location. We wrongly assumed that this was obvious as we wouldn't be able to play in the Brighton league from a Worthing based table that is out of the catchment area, but I know there is still some confusion!
Just to clarify, our 'Gardeners' venue is the Gardeners Arms on Abinger Road in Portslade (same road as the Romans) and not the Gardeners on West St in Sompting where there used to be a table. This applies to both the Summer and Winter leagues.
Cheers,
Lorenzo

As A Jersey Virgin 8-), I'm just wondering what time the games start on the friday (if I'm right in assuming it does start on the Friday), as I'm coming direct from Italy at about 5pm. Any help would be great, cheers. ;D
I also found return flights for £170 from Gatwick on the No Frills airline. It may seem like it's in the wrong direction from Jersey, but Gatwick for me is only 40 minutes away, whereas Southampton is well over an hour, but it does save the 15 minutes or so on flight time!
Thanks to Sparky for giving me the confidence to barter, as I've been quoted the full £70 a night from friday to monday, I take it I should be pushing for the cheaper price?

Swan 2 - 3 Romans
J.Whittle 1170 - 1740 D.Nichols L.Hickman 3820 - 1400 S.Bettles C.Oakley 1590 - 1780 R.Pettiford J.Osborne & J.Whittle 2020 - 1750 M.Moore & D.Roberts C.Oakley & L.Hickman 5130 - 6190 B.Bartrum & D.Nicholls
Quite an even match, with the Romans just edging into a 2-1 lead going into the doubles, James O and James W seeing it all square again into the final game. Good breaks from Brian and Dave to see them up to the 6K mark, with myself and Chris on 500 with only a few minutes left, with confidence to spring back. Chris O put in a very hasty 4660 break before the bar dropping and him clearing the rest of the table up to fall 1010 short of the mark. A minute or two extra time and things would have been a lot more intresting!
Thanks to James Osborne for being a ringer for us after Ben Goodwin's sudden departure of the team a few hours before our game.
EDIT: Just a note to the post above, the name isn't 'Dano' it's 'Damo' (Short for Damian). Thanks.

Gardeners 3-2 Atlas A :D
J.Osborne 3870 - 800 S.Wood C.Oakley 4560 - 6980 S.Hurley C.Cox 9430 - 4340 B.Muggeridge L.Hickman 7020 - 8960 M.Pope P.Hickman 3000 - 530 C.Huneysett
Good play all round with an unlucky black peg by Sheena in the first game towards the end, and 2 nice breaks from Steve and Mick of 5080 and 5400 respectively.
