Atlas A 4 Old House at Home 1
Good result for Atlas as OHAH had us on the ropes at 1 nil down and Graham lewis on the table in a good position to make it 2-0 but it was not to be. Sorry no scores.
Mario had gone first trying to chase down Nick's slow 7k break but ran out of time.
Geoff eventually came back to win against Graham in a close game which was probably the turning point of the match.
Mark came from behind to beat Neil on his second visit.
Martin was off early in game 4 but Paul was not able to capitalise.
In the battle of the Tonys. Lewis came out ahead of Burgess in his first game of the season.

M Smith and G Jukes bt T Jenner & D Anscome 2-0 tonight.
Wish I could have stayed longer for the post match entertainment - a Hendrix tribute band named Dolly Dagger. Not bad from what I did hear though.

I can confirm the Atlas/Marine View result:
Martin 10,600 900 John Hayes Tony 12,970 760 Dave Catchpole Steve 4,160 4,110 Matt Mason Grant 17,340 100 Stephen Oliver Ian 9,350 2,060 Bepo
Martin lost 3k on his first visit before making sure with 9,700 a little later. Tony broke off with 8,700 which was too much for Dave. Steve's game was a nail biter as he couldn't get going early on and allowed Matt to compile a lead. When Steve eventually got back on the table he thought he had more time than there was but eventually won with the last ball down the 200. Grant made 10k to settle the fourth game at the first visit while Ian and Bepo exchanged visits before Ian settled down to make the score 5-0 to the home team.

Martin Smith beat Mick Pope 2-1 at the Tarring Club yesterday.
Neither player could keep a break going on a table which which was not entirely consistent - top break was 1900 in the decider.

Sorry Tommo but I'm going to have withdraw - will be staying away following a VIP night out to see Al Murray (The Pub Landlord) and won't be able to get back in time.
Good luck with the tournament.

An eventful evening at the Dolphin yesterday for the men’s semi final – Kevin Tunstall vs Mark James.
Mark won the toss putting Kevin in to bat first. Kevin made about 2500 before coming off but Mark could only make about 1500 in reply. Kevin then played the rest of the time out for a comfortable 9660.
In the second leg Mark looked confident and set about winning the game on his opening visit. He had one difficult moment when a kick on the break put the red behind the left hand 50 but he recovered and eventually touched up on around 9k.
For the deciding 3rd leg Kevin got his head down and was looking good to run out the table for around 18 or 19k but it was not to be and neither ball went down when he hit a split too thick while on 9800.
Even breaks of course so Mark then steadily set about chasing Kevin’s target, there was no rush and when the bar dropped he calmly popped another coin in and continued. Neither player had missed a shot and before too long the supporters observed that Mark only needed to play the break three more times, leave the one-up (putting him level) then simply pot one more ball to win.
Mark executed the break and one-up successfully but had not left the red in the ideal position for another split. The white would not sit where he wanted it on the D so Mark chose to play a straight shot to the 50 hole at close on dead weight. To Mark’s horror and everyone else’s surprise the red ball hit the edge of the 50 hole and whipped out; game and match over, a draw!
The boys agreed to replay the whole match on another night rather than play to a finish there and then as the pub was starting to fill up with regulars. Watch this space for details of the next exciting episode.
