I presume from the lack of Ye Old Coach House in the table that another team has fallen by the wayside

Swan players had their deaf aids turned on so able to join in plenty of freindly banter, zimmer frames were at the ready, but got through the evening with minimum use.
Yes Tony,it got to a point last year where we thought Dave France was going to have to sell his Freelander and buy an ambulance with oxygen supplies and a nurse to ferry us all around Anyone know how the Swan B got on?

Good luck to all teams and players old and new. Due to personal circumstances it will be unlikely that I will be participating this year in any form .I have enjoyed my time back and all the new people I have met and hope to see some of you again in the not too distant future At the moment unfortunately Bar Billiards is not my No 1 priority but I know that I will be able to catch up with the results on this forum For now all the best to you all Pete

Well I have started something haven't I.I agree that there should be some give and take with regard to latecomers/early leavers.I also understand that quite a few teams usually travel with more than the 5 players on the night and the captain decides who to leave out. All of last season we had 6 or 7 players available and even though I was the 'new boy' and wanted to play every match I was happy just to go along for the experience You would still need a captain to ensure that all arangements for the evening were in place in played as drawn matches In my previous life as captain of the Mucky Duck B I always made sure that there were enough players on the night and after surveying the opposition would decide the 5 to play, even dropping myself on occasions. We obviously weren't of the highest standard back then but you still needed to have a chance of glory I don't think there is an easy answer, which is why I asked the question in the first place, although I think in played as drawn there is more of a chance for us lesser players to take the scalps of the top names I will get the view of my team,if there is someone who will second the proposal I will put it to the committee at the AGM Obviously I don't want to rock the boat(me being a newbee!) and I don't know how long the nominated player rule has been in place but is it time for a change?

Thanks to Mark and Barneybear I know the topic has been debated before, but I was wondering about putting forward a proposal for matches to be played as drawn as per cup matches, instead of nominated playing order.I know this is a subject close to Tommo's heart Your thoughts are invited

Can someone let me know how to put a rule change proposal to the committee.I presume it would have to be seconded and discussed at the AGM

Well, the Elms B season finished with a whimper last night at the Duke as Jean Over's Dolphin beat us 4-1 :'( Chris Scott's last ball 400 to win was our only bright spot Good luck to all in the final and see you next season

The Elms B may yet have a say in the outcome of the title. We have to play at the Stadium in the last game and I understand that the missing game against the Duke possibly could be arranged for the 15/3

Elms B 3-2 Dolphin A :) Another win for us even afterI was given a BB lesson by Jean Over Game 1 Pete Mansfield v Jean Over Jean attacked the table from the off and after breaking down I chased the balls around the table and never suceeded in getting the break back 0-1 Game 2 Dave France v Denise Mahy Dave with the break did enough and even he struggled a bit 1-1 Game 3 Vern Blake v Caroline Retfalvi Caroline set off like Jean did but Vern overhauled her.Caroline got the break back but just ran out of time 2-1 Game 4 Terry Denyer v Alan Brackenridge Terry off reasonably quickly but Alan never really mounted a serious challenge 3-1 Game 5 Ron Brewer v Sheena Wood An out of form Ron had his chances but lost more than he scored,Sheena running out a winner in a lowish scoring contest 3-2

Windmill A 1-4 Elms B Good night for us on the table that you lose your knuckles on when getting the balls out of the tray Nice to see Chris Scott finally win one in a generally low scoring contest Wins for Terry Denyer,Chris,Dave France and Vern Blake.Gina Sherrat was the only victor for the Windmill against an out of luck Ron Brewer
On the other table I think it was 3-2 to the Swan B

Dolphin 2-3 Elms B On the subs bench again :( as the Elms win 3 in a row on the Dolphin table which was O.K if you could keep the break Game 1 saw Dave France fresh from his Masters high break trophy win give Sheena Wood no chance 0-1
Jean Over pegged her first break against John Hayward,John amassed around 4,000 and then broke down.Jean came back but broke down when it looked as if she might win 0-2
Terry Denyer with the break, pegged when going well on a ball left short of the 100 hole.Alan Brackenridge then made a good break to give Terry no chance 1-2
Caroline Retfalvi with the break continued her good form with a win over Ron Brewer after he also pegged his first break 2-2
Captain Vern Blake finished off with the win against Chris Richards?(Think this is right,my apologies if not) in a game where most of the time the balls were at the top of the table 2-3
Lots of food which is always nice and then a freindly doubles for me and Ron against Sheena and Chris?(Apologies again) which saw the balls up the top of the table again to finish off :)
Bad luck the Dolphin, you are playing better than your 0 points suggest

Elms B 3-2 Windmill A Your roving reporter was late in due to being a taxi service to my offspring Got there just as my opponent in the singles Mick Pope was beating Dave France in the 3rd to make it 2-1 to the Windmill. Chris Scott had lost in the 1st John Hayward had made it 1-1 Vern Blake played a steady game to beat Edge to make it 2-2
Then the best game I have seen in a long time ended with Terry Denyer coming from almost 3500 behind to beat Alan Messer by around 400 to seal our 2nd win in a row
Good hot food spread by the Elms this week
I then played a friendly singles and got almost 6,000 which topped off an enjoyable evening
