I was not saying that it was not up to standard just that we struggled on it.Neither myself or Mick Pope managed to get the break back in our 2 games

Thanks for your comment. As I have said before I am finding my feet again after 25 years away and I do not want to cause any problems.I have never timed my own games and always continue trying up until the bar drops whether it is a lost cause or not.My aim has always been to enjoy the game and to try and win if possible. If i cannot win I will try to get a good score

Thanks for that.I wasn't aware of the rules. It seems that my opponent had not pulled the handle sufficiently as after the game had ended John Hayward pulled the handle and the balls were returned without putting another coin in In the end the result went our way,so I can put this down to experience

West Tarring Club 2-3 Elms B Finally ;D The Elms season is up and running after a hard fought win on the "Tricky" Tarring Club table Dave France on first with a steady near 8,000 score 0-1 Me on second and after faffing around for a while got the break back only to have the bar drop at 11 mins when chasing only 3,000 odd 1-1 Vern Blake on third to lose a scrappy game 2-1 Terry Denyer on fourth with a steady performance 2-2 John Hayward on last with the break to grind out the win by around 400 2-3 ;) My game just about sums up my first season back :'(.All the other games went about the same time

WINDMILL C 4-1 ELMS B Another struggle for the Elms after a week off :-/John Hayward made a steady start in the first but it was never really enough.Dave France was never in the 2nd,Captain Vern Blake managed to win our first game of the season in the 3rd ,Terry Denyer was well beaten in the 4th and by the time I played in the last it was all over.At least I managed to get a good starting break of 2500 :),but only ended up with 2800 :( It all seemed so much easier 25 years ago !!! Well played the Windmill

ELMS B 0-5 THREE HORSESHOES :'( Grrrrrrrrrrrr-Not really the result I had hoped for in my first league match back I pegged out after getting the break back when the scores were about even.Mal compiled a good break and by the time I got the break again it was too late We all had chances but it was not to be :-/ Well played KT and his team

Swan A 1-4 Duke of Wellington The Swans woeful home for continues.Completely outplayed by the Duke Dave France v Nigel Senior 15k+ first break from Nigel, game over,1 visit from Dave,Nigel finished off with another 3k 0-1 Ron Brewer v Pete Brown Lowest scoring game of the night,1900-1800,Ron potting the 100 at the second attempt to win after Pete had missed twice 1-1 Pete M v Tupps Super Sub called in again ;)due to illness and holidays Tupper time did not last long at the first attempt,I failed to do anything until it was too late :'( 2700-7000+ 1-2 Vern Blake v Dave Reeves Vern off very cheaply,Dave compiled lots of steady breaks 480-8000+? 1-3 Terry Denyer v Feed the Goat Chris not his usual fluid self, struggled a bit with the split,Terry could not get going 1400-9900+ 1-4 Good spread of sandwiches the only consolation

I think unfortunately it could end up with just one league as at the moment there are only 16 teams left in all divisions. It will be quite a short season if it is split into 2 groups of 8 and what happens if others decide enough is enough and drop out We shall have to wait and see

This is a shock and as you say,why play most of the season and then give up.I know the season hasn't been going as they may have expected given their experience but surely they could have fulfilled their fixtures Are they moving on?,if so it is not a very good advert for next season. I know we upped and left after last season but there were quite a few contributing factors in that decision So in less than a year the Elms has lost both it's teams and after the interview in the Worthing Herald a couple of weeks ago,how long before the pub goes altogether. I cannot see it surviving myself as I drive by very often and hardly ever see any significant numbers in there. Now they have lost their Thursday extra trade, allbeit however small, how much longer will it be I know I haven't actually been in the Elms since the end of last season, but in the season and 1/2 I did frequent it the patronage did significantly drop away, and after the smoking ban it has probably got a lot worse Much of the loss of trade topic has been discussed on other threads so I will stop there and hope that no other teams fall by the wayside in the near future I know I am not involved much this season and hope to play a more active role next year but the way things are going will there be a surplus of players for the venues available?

Yes a bit closer than the 5-0 scoreline suggests Super sub called in from the relative comfort of his sofa unable to make a difference, the result being the same as my last league match v the Stadium, but at least this time I took my cue out of its case!!! Unfortunately the Stadium do not fear the Swan table as much as they did the Elms and at the moment we are really struggling at home

Pete unfortunately there does seem to be quite a number of people with less than one brain cell in the particular pub. No offence to the team that plays there as I think it is a great venue and the table presents a very fair challange. Yes Tony I quite like the table,I played Vern after the singles and it does offer a fair challenge but it is really situated in the wrong place, but with the pool table in there as well the options are limited
